Fits the bill
Anyone who has carried stands to gigs can appreciate not having to find the various parts to assemble a stand when your trying to get your stuff ready. I've heard some say that having an upper support on a stand helps protect the neck but if you bump into any stand your axe is gonna crash. This stand presents a smaller footprint (= smaller target) It packs small & sets up & folds down very quickly.

Dangerous, foam erodes, will cause damage
The foam on the bottom of the stand will eventually erode, exposing metal and will cause damage to your guitar. I had it happen to my Les Paul. Just picking it up, and putting it back in on a regular basis you'll probably not notice, but when cleaning my LP, I noticed damage on the bottom of the instrument. After inspecting the FretRest stand, I noticed that the foam did indeed wear away to the point of metal being exposed and scratching my once beautiful Les Paul. I had four of these stands, and decided to buy a Hercules stand, that is made for 5 guitars to replace them, and I'm glad I did. Be careful, and check that foam. It's overall not a bad idea, and these types of stands have been made for many years, but you get what you pay for. If you have one, either wrap the foam well with gaffers tape, replace the foam altogether with some type of plumbing foam or just put some type of old t-shirt or other soft material down there. With regard to them falling over, of course this can happen to any stand. It's up to us to be careful when walking by, or placing a guitar back in the stand. A sturdier stand may withstand a bump, but this one will not. If you have several guitars, just bite the bullet and buy a Hercules stand.

This is a good guitar stand, however, Proline appears to have stopped making them. The Guitar Center website says they are available in my local store...but when I got there, the store clerk told me the site is wrong and he doesn't know why it says they have them. Disappointed.
I would buy again

The stand is great and the build quality is excellent. The size it folds up to fits nicely in the small case I carry the cords and foot switch for my amp in. Getting it, however, was not only inconvenient, but required extra cost. According to the website, my local Guitar Center in Reno, NV had the stand in stock and I could go and get it for the advertised price pus tax. No problem, right? Wrong. I drove the 12 miles each way to the store only to find out that they had sold out of the stand. I was told by the salesman that it was unadvisable to trust what I read on the website. Since no one else offered this stand or one like it, and since the website still claimed that my local store had it in stock, I wasn't given the option of ordering it for in-store pickup, thereby saving the cost of shipping. I ordered it and had to pay the shipping cost as well as tax which brought the base price up by about 65%. I'm glad I bought the stand and I will buy from Guitar Center again, but now I will make sure I call the store first to verify that they have the item in stock.

This stand is sturdy and doesn't take up much space. I have this in the corner of our guest bedroom and it does a nice job of securely holding my Jackson guitar without taking up a lot of space. We don't have kids and the dog is not allowed in the guest bedroom so I don't have to worry about anyone hitting it and knocking it over but this stand may not be the best choice for those with kids or pets.
