My Main Drum for Metal and progressive rock. GREAT

I have owned this snare for about three years now, I absolutely love it. It can be tuned in a eide variety and can actually be tuned versital enough to sound like any sanre type, high pitch ringy, High pitched tight and quick, Deep and powerful like AC/DC. In my opinion its a nice versitile addition to any set, especially at the affordable price for a nice black maple.

Not Too Impressed

Tones are great at first even with the stock Remo head, but it doesn't stay in tune. I played a few hours on it and had to re-tune it. Same thing happened at church but we didn't have time to re-do eq so I had to leave it. During a Saturday night service a tension rod fell out of a bottom lug after a few hours of playing. Also, the snare wires are sub par. I've adjusted the snare several times and the tension is never even across the strands so it buzzes a good bit. I like my batter head really tight and my snare side head a bit looser than the batter; granted I tried many different things with this snare. I wish I could return it. I'd recomend a DW Performance series snare.

After waaay too much research, I bought this snare for a cocktail kit I have in my house. No matter how I tuned it, it sounded amazing. Even with the stock heads. It turns out that high and dry is the sweet spot for me. Tone, snap, responsive and man, what a rim shot sound you get. My drummer, who has played for 30+ years played it for an hour, looked at ,e and said "I'm getting one."

  • I would buy it again if need be.

I gig out regularly with a country/rock band that also occasionally plays soul and Motown favorites as well. This little baby sounds great on ALL STYLES. It projects sounds good tuned lower and has a great crack up high. The only thing, and this is not a big deal by any means is that when it's tuned a little lower the tension rod around where I strike the drum loosens up and I have to re tighten it. It goes right back in tune so it doesn't slow me down but just a little annoying.

I was in our local G.C. today checking out the snare drums like I usually do. One hit on this puppy sold me right away. It has one heck of a crack & rims shots that are awesome. They had several used snares and this one happened to be used, but not abused..buy it, you will be amazed.

i bought this snare used, because it was half price, and I'll tell you what, it sounds great. this snare has more crack than any other snare I've ever played. My only complaint is that it isn't as resonant as I would like, but most people I know muffle their snares to kill resonation. All of the hardware is very sturdy, and the stock head even sounds good. This snare is one of the best parts about my set, and I would recomend it to anyone trying to buy a new/used snare.

I had always heard great things about Pork Pie and I was not disappointed. When it came time for me to buy a snare, I did meticulous research before going in and banging on a couple of them. I had my mind pretty much made up and once I hit it, there was no going back! I wanted a nice pop; something that would lend itself to great grooving. This drum is so tight sounding, it's actually made me a better player. The smaller size makes it easy to tune. The stock head has a nice, thick batter. For an 8-ply maple, the price is extremely reasonable. And it's seriously a sexy looking drum. It will compliment any kit sonically and aesthetically. I love this drum, and I'd recommend it to any player. Those guys at Pork Pie know what they're doing!
