Their swivel mechanism allows you to wear them comfortably, whichever way you prefer, for long periods of time.Outstanding Audio
With 40 mm drivers, you'll hear your tracks loud and clear. The 4-core twisted-structure cable gives superior left and right channel separation and the magnetic circuit is optimized so, thanks to fine noise suppression and elaborate tuning, you can enjoy distortion-free sound.Rigorous Testing
To ensure the HDJ-X5 DJ headphones stand up to heavy use and sever conditions, Pioneer put them through intense testing procedures. As a result, the HDJ-X5s cleared the MIL-STD-810G military standard for durability and shock resistance.

Excellent for drummers! Even electronic drummers!
I've been looking for a new set of headphones for a very long time that can do what I need them to do... Which is to use as my primary monitors while drumming live and while recording in-studio. I play a Roland TD-50 kit, and the punch of the kick drum is very demanding on headphones. Very. I've been using Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones for years. However, they have never lasted more than a year and a half, before the dreaded kick drum rattle starts. I took a gamble and bought a set of these Pioneers, and let me tell you... They are FANTASTIC for monitoring my drums. Fantastic. They do have quite a bit of mid-range in them, and the bass isn't some super ultra rich, manufactured bass frequency. They give me that raw, punchy feel that I want when I'm playing, and these don't fail at higher volumes. Too much bass frequency actually drives me up the wall. These are accurate, they fit great, they sound awesome, and they can take what electronic drums dish out! I absolutely recommend these headphones. You will not be disappointed, especially at such a low price point!

Sound great but had a major design flaw
I use these for writing and producing music as well as live gigging. They sound great and are extremely comfortable but a major design flaw at the speaker hinges that causes hairline cracks in the plastic that will eventually rendering them useless. The pair I bought were well taken care of and used almost daily but within a year the hinge started cracking and then one day just straight broke, causing one of the speakers to come loose. Glueing lasted a couple weeks and attempts to stop the cracking the other speaker only delayed the inevitable breaking of that speaker. AVOID THESE.

I used these everyday for preparing music for dj gig and then out in the field at the club and other gigs, I was really careful with my second pair after my first pair broke but unfortunately the second pair also broke. The plastic just does not hold up like most headphones. If you get the pro coverage beware you will have to jump through a bunch of hoops and you will be out your gear until you send the company they use the product in the mail and wait for a check. Pro coverage waste of money and misleading...
