Phil Jones Bass

Description

The Session 77 is remarkably affordable 100W bass combo from PJB. By using all digital circuitry, the amp will work on any AC voltage from 100 to 260 Volts without a voltage selector. It features a single channel pre amp with a 3-band EQ. It also has a separate auxiliary input for backing tracks. The combination of the two proprietary 7 in. speakers and a 2 in. tweeter gives full range reproduction of all basses with stellar clarity. The Session 77 is the result of our effort to build a budget conscious amp without giving up our quest for quality. Focusing on the most basic needs of most bass players, we achieved the goal of having the best sounding, most reliable amp at an unbeatable price.

I have had 7 various Phil Jones amps over the years and all have exceeded my expectations. The Session 77 has been absolutely perfect for my upright use. I have a Baggs Para DI I connect to wirelessly. This works great as we play a lot of rockabilly and the old Kay M1 is easy to move around on stage without wires. The Baggs DI XLR goes out to the FOH system and the 1/4" out to the Session input. The Session sits on a 12" angled stand on the floor pointed up at me as a monitor. It is a GREAT setup, extremely portable with a solid low end and crystal clear mids and highs. I use it as a stand alone for 30's - 40's sets we occasionally do for assisted living facilities. I would highly recommend this amp. It is a really good value for it's price point. It is not going to shake the house with (2) 7" drivers but for it's niche I have never had anything better in over 50 years of playing.

I just wanted to review the Session 77 after 4 years of ownership. The amp has been flawless in operation and sound with zero problems since I purchased it. I have 2 other PJB amps (Briefcase and M-300 with a 9B cabinet) and all are great! The Session is used on 90% of my gigs now as my monitor and I split the output of a Baggs Para DI with the 1/4" out into the Session and the XLR direct to the front of house mixer. I typically play an Engelhardt 3/4 with a Schaller magnetic pickup or a fretless Alembic 4 string and it works everywhere every time. Phil makes some great products and the price point of the Session 77 gets his amps into the hands of normal players. As a stand alone you will not fill a room with heavy metal but in a controlled environment it is killer. Great product and I could not be happier.

This PJB Amp is Awesome! The 77 sounds great with my Guild accustic electric jumbo bass , even better with my Ibanez Frettless bass. Even alternative Tuning, drop D etc sounds great . If u play semi hollow body , accustic, frettless basses like I do , this is your next practice Amp !

Got rid of most of my heavy Fender amps (I'm 67), and now use this for my bass and a Phil Jones CUB AG-100 for my electric and acoustic. Life is good!

Very happy with this mighty little combo bass amp. I rid myself of two heavy 2x10" bass amp cabinets and a heavy 300 watt head. It's a pleasure to play through this Phil Jones Session 77 with a plug-in for my iPad to practice. My playing out days are over and I now enjoy playing in my home studio. This handles my Warwick bass nicely open E not a problem. I've been wanting a Phil Jones Bass Amp for sometime now and glad I finally purchased this amp. When you call Musician's Friend they negotiate a nice discount too. Thank you Chris the sales rep you were most helpful.

Electric? How would this amp sound using an electric guitar? I play bass as well but don't want an app based amp so I'm looking for an amp that will support both bass and electric 🎸. Thanks

" How would this amp sound using an electric guitar?" Not very good. It has a very limiter hi frequency response. This has a hi frequency horn: Markbass MINI CMD 121 P V
