If you are planning to use this to record your guitar playing, feel free to get this. I was trying to use this for speech recognition. It did not fair too well with various apps I was trying to use on my Android tablet. Maybe in a few years when apps are better at receiving streamed audio text and then converting it to text, I would be interested.

Works perfectly for connecting an external mic to my iPhone's analog audio jack so that I can do ad hoc recording during guitar lessons I teach. I used a Radio Shack adapter to convert my mic's stereo jack to a 1/4" mono jack. Plugged that into the Peterson adapter and I'm able to do mono record using the iPhone's Voice Memo app. Then I'm able to forward the recording to my students. Also, the recordings get synced in iTunes on my PC where I can process them further if needed. The Peterson adapter also works great with tuning apps. Note: the iPhone audio jack only supports Mono recording. Stereo recording requires a connecting to the 30-pin or Lightning connector of an iPhone via an appropriate device or mic.

This adapter is exactly what it says it is. this is the only cable that I was able to find that allows me to plug my bass straight into the itouch 2g and have the tuners recognize the bass. this is a GREAT piece to have in your aresnal if you have an itouch...
