Trully portable
Very good stand. Trully folds down and does not take much space. The legs are stronger than what I expected. The tray that holds your music could be a bit stronger but it is adecuate to hold sheet music. If you maintain your music in a binder you may want to pull the chart off the binder as the binder may be too heavy for the tray. Everything else is great.

Disappointed
The base of the stand is fine - it's sturdy it folds smoothly - it's great. The sheet music holder is very cheaply made. The design is nice but the execution is just plain poor. I'd would recommend this one.

I've used this for plays, club, and studio gigs. I would recommend this and looking forward to purchasing another for my wife soon. Thanks so much musician's friend.
Not what I expected

I have 3 music stands and by far this is the worst of them. When put together, it's very unstable and clumsy. Every time I pick it up to move it, 2 of the legs fall out, then it's a pain to put them back in. I would not recommend this stand to anyone. I bought it because it was on sale a couple of years ago and I have regretted it ever since then.
An OK portable stand with up front problems

This is the best compromise I could find in a portable stand. The glue joints came apart the first time I set it up so I had to re-glue with an epoxy. The music sheet platter is solid and extends out so you can view 4 sheets at once. You can actually write on your score sheet with this stand which was an essential feature in my case. The legs are badly designed though and cause the stand to be wobbly. All in all, I'm good with this stand now but initial problems and the poor leg design lowered my opinion of Peterson.

Although my stand finally broke after several years use as a performer and music teacher, it's most likely because my sheet music binder was quite heavy. It's more sturdy than other portable stands I'm aware of. I think it's totally cool! The 1st few times I used it I would be reminded of Raymond in "The Manchurian Candidate!"

I own four of these and use them in a very unconventional way. But, they are the best stand I've ever seen. The self-contained case is genius. The leg channel is a bit fragile, but only if a great deal of weight is put on it, or if someone falls against it. Otherwise, for holding music, it is plenty strong enough. PLUSۡ_ the Petersen company is very easy to work with and very customer oriented. I wouldn't buy any other stand.
