Loved this amp from the very first note that came out of its maw. I play a custom '79 Fender P fretless with maple fretboard and a Frankenstiened Squire P (s/c Vintage '64 Pickup ) where the only thing that's Squire about it is the body. It's a beast through this amp. My fretless has very hot P/J EMG's, so with the maple neck and DR LO-RIDER 45 to 105 Round Wounds so the bite can be a little sharp in the upper ranges, but plugged straight in with no effects, I can warm and adjust the tone from warm to strident. I'm in a working band so the 300 watts is more than enough for every venue that I play in. I may have dropped a hard 'dime' on this amp, but I tell you what, I've never regretted one cent of that money on this purchase. Buy it. Play it. Love it.

  • I would buy this product again.

I was using a TC Electronic BG250 with a 15 for the last 3 years. It had excellent clarity and lows but it always sounded very weak when we had to play quiet. I decided I'd had enough so I decided to start looking again but I didn't want to spend a ton. I tried all the major brands before buying the TC and found something I didn't like with each. I plugged into this and was wowed by the punch and clarity. It will get loud too which is nice to know is there when I'll need it. It handles the low B better than the Peavey Max 115. Simple controls like on the 115 and my Peavey Minimax head. I like the built in tuner too.

  • Its about time!

After mail ordering an unseen/unheard amp and sending it back, I was really frustrated. I was heavily researching another amp when I happened to go out to my local honky tonk. I heard this big booming noise outside and had to go see what it was. Loe and behold, here was this Peavey amp making a huge round fat bass tone (the one I was visualizing I'd get from my mail-order amp). After talking to the bassist, I quickly got online and found the amp and ordered it. Peavey was an early choice, as I am re-rigging, and I can't believe the difference between now and many years ago when I had a TKO65! The 300 Max has SO much power and so many voicing options that I'm simply ecstatic! I recently had a chance to play thru my other amp choice (Rumble 500). I'm so glad I didn't go that route! Lightweight doesn't beat presence!...and I got this amp for $100 less! Besides, if you can't carry something that weighs as much as a 5 gal. bucket of water, then maybe you should switch to tamboirine! Do yourself a favor and demo this amp! I've switched over after years of active bass to playing passive jazz bass and couldn't be happier!

This amp delivers. I'm almost certain that if I went past 5, my house would literally shake apart. Great tone control, passive/active inputs, input for a pedal, you really cant go wrong here. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the grill rattle on the lower end of my bass. I took care of it quickly on my own by removing the grill and applying a layer of double sided tape to the grill, then reattached. would be an easy 5 if not for that.
