Description

Designed in conjunction with percussionist Pete Korpela, Pearl Primero Jingle Cajon offers four different sound possibilities in one package. The hand drum's wood body adds superior strength and warmth, while the super-responsive snare system offers sensitivity unmatched by other brands. Simply twist open the Brazilian Platinella-style jingles and a new world of sonic options opens up, as you sound like two percussionists blending simultaneously. Open up the cajon's stainless steel tambourine jingles for a whole other jingle option, or combine the two to sound like an entire percussion section.

When I first saw this cajon I thought the front facing jingles would be in the way, some gimmicky, and not be able to be turned totally off. I was dead wrong. The jingle don't sound until you loosen them, then they add a really wonderful texture to your sound. The tambourine zils (jangles) add a nice high end bell like ring to your sound, and the pandeiro style aren't as noisy, but add a nice texture to your low end. Loosen both sets and you've got a really full sound that compliments the internal snares very nicely. The bass and slap tones on this are also spectacular. It had the best definition between a nice resonant bass tone and a dry pop of all the cajons in the store. This is the second cajon I've used from pearl and I would not hesitate to recommend one to my friends or even buy another one down the road.
