Overview

Superior sound, accurate triggering and connectivity are the most important features of a drum module. Pearl Drums and Steven Slate have joined forces to create “ Mimic Pro” the world’s most advanced percussion sound source for studio and live performance applications.

At the heart of this ground-breaking unit is the new Steven Slate 5 drum library that features multi-channel drum samples recorded in world class studios. Each instrument supports adjustment of Attack, Sustain, Release, Tune, Pan and Volume. Instead of substituting digital effects to create ambience, these instruments use the actual ambient recordings with separate adjustment of close, overhead and room mics.

Mimic Pro is the first drum module to implement a 7 in. IPS touch screen and the first to offer two mixers for independent headphone and front house outputs. Now that the drummer is responsible for triggering loops and other sounds for a performance, Mimic Pro can import audio files to trigger from your pads. Storage is no longer a problem with Mimic’s 120G Solid State Drive and lightning fast loading time.

Speaking of connectivity, Mimic Pro is compatible with Pearl TruTrac pads and a host of pads from other manufacturers. Top that off with 16 audio outs, 16 trigger inputs, independent SD card slot, USB and midi in and out, stereo aux input and you would be hard pressed to find a better option for today’s musician.

    Comments about Pearl MIMIC Pro:

Let's face the facts. Okay fact singular. Slate has not and I believe will never put out anything "half baked" that bares his name. I have traveled with a rack mounted VST for years packed with SD2, BFD, DRUMAGOGG, and SSD4. Gimme SSD4 in a small form factor module with video output and I am set. Go ahead top it, Not likely.

    Comments about Pearl MIMIC Pro:

These drums are the best there is. I have owned a 2box, atv ad5, and td25, this has the best sounds and playability. It took a day or so to get used to it i had been using a td25 before this has more of a acoustic drum feel to it for sure. The sounds are great and the tweaking you can do is astounding adjust mics and countless other settings
The best e drums of all time the td50 doesn't compare

      Comments about Pearl MIMIC Pro:

First of all let me said, I was not expecting this device to be so much good, I owned previously, td-20, td-30 and, AD5 and td-50, I can say without any doubt, this is the best module I have used to date, the triggering option are extremely deep, the playability is on par like my previous TD-50 v1.06\ AD5, both are now sold. The hi-hat responsive is definitely better from past module. The sound are in another league included VEX, they can't compete with any of the default sound instruments, the dynamic range is really exceptional, tonality\ variety on the instruments change from ghost note to higher dynamic, editing is extremely deep too with all microphone, eq\compressor etc. There is no machine gun at all like vdrum used to have, even with AD5 I had lots of machine gun with my playing style, limited layers. I used now 5 time in live concert, no problem at all, reliable and stable. The quality of this module is solid, metal frame and heavy duty parts.

        Comments about Pearl MIMIC Pro:

I've owned the following sets: Roland TD-8, Alesis Forge, Alesis Crimson, Roland TD-11kv, Roland TD25kv, Roland TD-30k. The Mimic Pro is the module I've been looking for. It is a VST in module form with color touch screen, 1 shot wav sample player, 128GB SSD for future expandability, deep editing of sounds, and deep pad editing capabilities. Is looks and sounds great. After the learning curve, you will wonder how you got on so long without the Mimic Pro.

          Comments about Pearl MIMIC Pro:

The Mimic module seems to be everything I hoped for. Ease of use - very intuitive interface, only requires instructions for advanced settings. The samples are very clean, I would say little or absolutely no static in the samples that would indicate that they have been recorded and being played backed vs a studio recording of real acoustic drums. The sounds are extremely dynamic, that's probably the biggest difference V.S. previous setup using Roland module and SSdrums 4 on Mac using midi. The dynamic sensitivity is amazing. The only thing I didn't care for was the limited file formats for playback while drumming. It's limited to .wav files only. I understand the quality difference but mp3 playback from thumb drive would have been nice. Extremely well built and fairly heavy, display is bright and I'm really loving this Mimic module. I hope to see more samples available, although the supplied sounds are adequate and amazing. I did have every Ssd4 sound module for previous setup. One other thing, SSd 4 was not really setup for you to send a sample to a pad that didn't belong, some samples would only be able to be assigned to certain pads, like cymbal samples could only be easily routed to cymbals. Mimic module let's you assign any sound to any pad (the way it should be). I have all Roland drums and cybamls, worked seamless with no setup, did have to adjust some sensitivity, some of my toms seemed to be more sensitive then others, despite being all the same models, (not a big deal, changed without even having to read instructions) thanks Steven Slate and Pearl for making an amazing drum module.

            Comments about Pearl MIMIC Pro:

The quality of the sounds and easy to use interface is the best I've ever used. There's not one bad sample. The presets are mix ready right out of the box. Instruments have multiple mics that you can individually adjust. It's just like a real recording session using real mics. The amount of flexibility is great, triggering setting make it so much easier to calibrate others pad\cymbal compare to others module which are very limited.

Extremely happy with this investment, I am playing more then tweaking sound with past Roland module and others.

              Comments about Pearl MIMIC Pro:

Don't buy an new e-drumset... just update the module. The Mimic Pro is an excellent replacement for dated drum modules. Excellent quality sound and ultra solid build. Lots of inputs for expandability. Works with any brand's pads or DIY hybrid setups. If you have a Roland set, you can "dial out" the hot spotting on their pads. Has an internal recorder and audio player. Each drum has stereo direct mic, overhead and room mics. Samples SSD5 sounds great and you can edit and save an infinite amount of kits.

Unlike other modules with no real update path, this thing is a computer, so OS updates add all new UI and expandability, not only in sounds, but in functionality as well. It also works great as a trigger for VSTs, even better than Roland, as the trigger settings go much deeper than Roland.

Yes it's pricey, but so are all high quality devices.
