I have a Pearl Export kit and a Yamaha Sage Custom Birch kit. I have these Pearl Mufflers on both kits - all toms and snare. I bought some for my (now 21 year old) son who loves them as well for his OCDP Venice Series kit. I have purchased them for drums at churches as well. They are perfect for live as well as the recording studio. They mount very easily, have a good range of adjust-ability to allow more or less overtone ring. They easily fit inside drum cases and are small enough to stay out of your way even during the fiercest of solos. I highly recommend them. I have used them for decades - drum kits used to have these mutes on the inside of the drum...
External Muffler Does Not Work With Triple Flanged Hoops

The clamp on Pearl's external muffler is not designed to work with triple flanged hoops which are typically found on all but very high end drum kits. The muffler might perform its job well, but since I cannot clamp it to the rim of any of my drums I have no use for it. Pearl should provide this information with its promotional material. It is not possible to determine this by looking at the photograph.

I bought this hoping to get rid of that annoying "ring" on the snare. I had tried all of the other tricks, but wasn't satisfied. This absoulutely did the trick. If the ring doesn't really bother you than save your money, but if it does it is definitely worth the investment.
