First off I would like to say the finish is beautiful. The playability is excellent. I play through a Fender Hot rod Deluxe ML series and the clean tones are wonderful. Through an overdrive, or a distortion pedal , it has plenty of growl and sustained. If you are on the fence, don't be. You will not be disappointed.

Finally received by back order. The good: balances better than your typical hollow-body, and of course its feather-weight. Fit and finish are good, setup is fine and this is always welcome and expected from PRS. But...Im beginning to think that PRS deliberately handicaps their "higher end" SE lineup. Similar to the problem with the SE Pauls Guitar, the pickups on this thing are super hot and very soon they produce ice pick shrill sounds. That and they are also rather bass-heavy. Yeah you can eq the heck out of this but it never sounds like a nice low output PAF. Even import Duncan Design pickups are an upgrade here. As a result, you lose much of why you came to the show: nuances and dynamics get covered over by the hot hb. And of course no coil splitting. Yeah i could spend 300-400 on new pickups and an install. Not going there at this price point. Im sure the core HB guitar does not disappoint but thats a whole other world of investment, and Im thinking that is probably where PRS wants you to go and largely why this model was produced. Your ears may hear something else but to me even a used AS-73 with its cheapo ceramics is doing a lot more things better than this axe.

Is the interior of the guitar painted black? Looks so from the pics though saw one in the store and it was not. It was left unfinished and was a very light natural shade, looked a bit tacky.

    Open Reply - Ronald
They appear darker in the pictures. The inside of the F-holes are all natural finish.
