PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo: The Ultimate Versatile Guitar

The PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo combines the warmth and resonance of a hollowbody with the stability and power of a solidbody. Featuring an innovative piezo system, this piezo guitar allows players to blend acoustic and electric tones seamlessly, making it one of the most versatile instruments in the PRS SE lineup. Whether you’re performing on stage or recording in the studio, the SE Hollowbody II Piezo delivers unparalleled tone, functionality, and style.

Revolutionary Piezo Pickup System for Acoustic Versatility

The SE Hollowbody II Piezo features a newly designed LR Baggs/PRS piezo pickup system, providing access to both acoustic and electric tones in one instrument. With dual output jacks (labeled “Mix/Piezo” and “Magnetics”) and individual volume controls, you can blend the guitar’s magnetic pickups and piezo output to create a wide range of tones. Use the outputs separately to send the piezo signal to an acoustic amp or PA and the magnetic pickups to an electric guitar amp. This flexibility makes the PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo perfect for players who need dynamic tonal options for live and studio applications.

Resonant Hollowbody Design With Premium Tonewoods

Constructed with a maple top and back paired with mahogany sides, the SE Hollowbody II Piezo produces a warm, resonant tone with enhanced midrange. The fully hollow construction enhances the guitar’s natural acoustic properties, while the Black Gold Burst finish adds a touch of elegance. The Wide Fat mahogany neck provides a comfortable playing feel for all styles, making this piezo guitar as enjoyable to play as it is versatile.

Vintage-Inspired Humbuckers for Rich, Musical Tone

Equipped with PRS 58/15 “S” humbucking pickups, the SE Hollowbody II Piezo delivers balanced, vintage-inspired tones with exceptional clarity. These pickups capture the nuance of the guitar’s hollowbody resonance while offering the warmth and character of classic humbuckers. With 3-way switching, you can easily navigate between neck, bridge, or combined pickup positions for a wide range of electric tones.

High-Performance Components for Reliability

The SE Hollowbody II Piezo is loaded with premium features, including a rosewood fretboard with custom bird inlays, an adjustable stoptail bridge, CTS pots, and 14:1 tuning machines. These high-quality components ensure precise tuning, smooth playability, and reliable performance for both live and studio settings.

Awesome guitar with an awesome sound

I received the Black Gold Burst version about a week ago. It's a BEAUTIFUL guitar. The pictures don't do it justice. The f-holes really add to the appearance. Fender ALSO makes a hollowbody guitar, but they went the round sound hole direction, which, IMHO, is hokey looking. The sound is INCREDIBLE! I have 4 other electric guitars, including a Fender American Standard Strat, Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG and an Ibanez Prestige— They are ALL wonderful guitars, and each has its own personality, in how they play AND how they sound. THIS guitar has a sound that TRANSCENDS ALL of my other guitars. There are a number of videos on YouTube. BUT, as with the appearance, they simply DO NOT do it justice. The humbucker pickups ALONE produce a sound that is CLEAR and RESONANT. Adding the sound from the piezo pickup sends it over the top! ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS. I was a little reluctant to purchase a guitar made in China. However, the CONSTRUCTION and FINISH are PERFECT! PLUS, the cost is WAAAY less than the equivalent US-made version. I hope I've given you the idea that this is a SPECIAL guitar, BECAUSE IT IS!

Bad quality control despite being a beautiful looking guitar

I have had my eye on this guitar for some time now and finally decided to bite the bullet. I have a few other PRS guitars (Core 24-08, S2 Singlecut, and SE McCarty 594), and was wanting to add a hollowbody to the ranks without breaking the bank on another Core model. I have read great reviews about the newer SE models and wanted to give them a chance. Sadly, there was an immediate pickup issue with this guitar. The Piezo system worked fine, but there was literally no Mag output from the humbuckers. I have never encountered this on a new guitar before. And before anyone asks, yes I tried both the Mix/Piezo plug and the Mag plug, and on both, the pickups were dead. I could occasionally get the middle position to work with some knob fiddling, but essentially they were DOA and useless. I'm very disappointed as I really wanted to like this guitar. I'm not sure I'm ready to give it another chance with a replacement either. I've been having some issues with my SE McCarty 594 as well including dead spots and fret buzz due to uneven fret heights. I think I will be sticking with the American made models from here on out.

This is the guitar I've been waiting for!! Traded my PRS Custom 24 SE 30th anniversary in for it. Not only is this a stunning guitar, it plays beautifully and easily. The wide-thick neck is perfect. Its not thick, just thicker than the wide-thin necks on the Custom 24's. I prefer the wide-thick neck myself. Action on this one is perfect, low and quick. The one I played in the store had much higher action, so not consistent, but that can be easily fixed. Going thru my Pevey Vyper II with the amp on accoustic setting, this thing sounds convincingly like a plugged in accoustic. Set on high gain and it rocks amazingly. It can be played very aggressively before any feedback from the hollowbody. Doesn't have the single coil setup, which the Core model also doesn't have. But the Piezo pickup easily makes up for it. I love mixing in some Piezo with the Humbuckers. Just beautiful sounds. I can not recommend this guitar enough. Looks like artwork, and plays even better

I have had two other full body guitars that I loved the sound but were not comfortable to play. This guitar has such a comfortable feel and incredible sound. I was so impressed with guitar I bought a PRS custom SE a week later. I also have a PRS CE 24.

I've had this guitar for a year now and it is my go to every day. I put D'Addario Chromes (flat wound) stings on and it is a match that is ever so sweet. Very fun guitar and that picture doesn't do the color any favors. It is beautiful when you really get to hold and play it.

There is no specific design for what you're asking. There are amps for acoustic/electric and electric. You may want to think about splitting the signal chain.

Probably not. The reference "wide fat neck" dates back to the original Les Paul. It was much like a bat. You need a slim neck.
