The CE24 Semi-Hollow | PRS Guitars

PRS

collapse expand iconDescription

Combining the snap and sustain of a bolt-on guitar with the airy resonance of a semi-hollowbody, the CE 24 is a unique addition to the PRS bolt-on lineup. The body pairs the traditional combination of a mahogany back and maple top with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The neck features a Pattern Thin carve and satin nitro finish for a natural, addictive feel. The electronics consist of a volume and push/pull tone control with a 3-way toggle switch, giving a total of six classic sounds from the PRS 85/15 pickups.

NEEDED SET UP BUT WHEN ACTION LOWERED PLAYS BETTER. ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE VOLUME KNOB WHICH IS DIRECTLY UNDER YOU PICKING HAND AND IT IS EASY TO TURN THE VOLUME UP OR DOWN UNINTENTIONALLY.

  • Incredibly versatile.

The naple neck and string bridge give this guitar a snap and spank that let's it do a very good impersonation of big F single coil guitars. This thing covers so much ground.

Absolutely love the looks, feel and sound of this instrument. The semi hollow body provides impressive weight relief. Exactly what I was looking for. Couldn't possibly be happier with the guitar itself! This is guitar #7 that I've purchased from GC over the years, and probably the last. Not available for in-store pickup, so it was delivered to my house. As with most new guitars, it needs a little tweaking on the setup. Unbelievably, GC charges $80 to do this on the guitar I just purchased from them! Why in the world wouldn't they leverage their retail store locations to compete with Sweetwater, et al by providing this service free of charge? Guitars from SW come set up and fully inspected. You pay extra for that with GC. Such a departure from the customer oriented company they were in years past.

Personally, I think the CE series strikes a perfect balance in price point between the S2 and Core models and its awesome to be able to get my hands on fully American made semi-hollow PRS. I traded in an S2 Custom 24 for this and I'm very happen with that decision. The S2 I had was a great instrument itself, but the electronics were not all that great and general build quality was just a tick below top end. The CE 24 electronics thus far are perfect for me (no noisy pots, no buzz when coil split and no excessive switching noise for the push pull coil split or pickup selector). I personally don't like the pickup selector location, but it's a minor adjustment that I'm willing to make for such a great guitar. The tone is definitely on the brighter side due to the bolt-on neck and steel bridge, but without ever really sounding harsh. As with all PRS guitars, it responds well to adjustments in the volume and tone knobs and cleans up nicely when rolled back. When pushing the gain really hard, there is always going to be some feedback with a semi-hollow, but with quality woods like the CE24 uses, you can get an amazing warm resonant feedback that you can control with the tremolo with great precision. The pickups are definitely very balanced and modern voiced, so don't expect a vintage PAF character from them. I find myself using this guitar along with an S2 Singlecut and between the two, I can get all the sounds I'm looking for. The soft case is durable and has really nice padding, but for almost $2500 it should really come with a hard case.

Is the semi hollow ce 24 still being produced by prs? It seems to be very difficult to find for some reason. All of the comments and posts I see about it online are from a few years ago.

Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the guitars play ability.
