beauty and beast
So this is the first "after market" snare ive ever had. After playing off and on for 10 or so years this has been the best so far ive owned pearl, tama and black panther snares that came with the kits but as far as looks, tone, and overall sound its top notch in my book. just slapped an evans genera hd dry batter on it and just played in amazement.you really must try it orange county knocked this out of the park its restored my love for playing

I would not buy this drum again
Sounded awesome, nice and heavy drum. loved the concept, however once I tried a few different heads on it and torked the heads down tight the lugs all started breaking and popping away from the shell. I had it for about 3 days, and it had somewhere between 9-12 lugs that snapped off the shell.

I've owned them all, DW, Gretsch, Tama, Mapex... I've tried all of their higher end snares. This thing rises above all of them. I tossed aside my DW collectors snare, if that tells you anything. This thing is a beast. It was the sound I had been searching for.
Great dynamics

This snare is awesome. I play rock, blues and reggae, and i couldnt be happier with the sound and versatility of this drum. It is as loud as needed, or delicate and soft for quiet songs. I have had dozens of compliments on it and will continue to use it as my main snare for years.
I would buy this drum again

So this is the only draw back I have, you gotta have tighten up some of the lug screws inside the shell. Once everything is tight and you tune up, it sound pretty good out of the box. If you want a different sound change the head, I have a Remo control sound on mine. The drum is versatile it's nice when tuned low, gets better in the Medium range, but the sweet spot is the high-medium high range. The 25-ply shell creates a huge crack which is great for gospel music. But at the end of the day it's an all around great drum especially for the price point. You can't get a 25-ply Shell cheaper than this.
yes i would recommend this snare

I played all of the snares at Guitar Center, new and used. I brought my toughest critic (wife), and had her blind listen. She picked this one after I spent an hour picking it too. It is very sensitive, great sound, great depth. It is HEAVY!!! Cast hoops are a nice feature as well. I highly recommend coated heads. The clear heads ring like crazy.

Is it odd for the snare side hoop to be pinched al the way near even to be leveled with the wood? This is my first ocdp snare and I find that disturbing. Unless it's supposed to be like that. That also cause for the strips holding the wires to be cinched down from the hoop being so low as well. Am I missing something or what?
I believe so, but just to be on the safe side, send us a picture and a brief discription of your question to YourVoice@GuitarCenter.com and we can double check.submitted6 years ago
