Orange Two Stroke Boost EQ Pedal

Description
However you set it, thanks to the pedal’s charge pump circuit (which doubles the internal voltage and massively increases the headroom), the Two Stroke works brilliantly placed before or after other pedals, or even in your effects loop. It’s also suitable for bass and acoustic guitars as a practical tool to remove unwanted ‘honk’ or feedback, making this pedal a valuable addition to any musician’s setup. If you’ve flirted with EQ pedals before but been immediately put off by excessive noise and underwhelming results, the awesome Two Stroke Boost EQ may just change your mind.
12 dB Clean Boost
The Two Stroke’s Oil knob controls the level of clean boost by up to 12 dB—plenty to saturate your amp’s front end. What’s more, the pedal’s internal charge pump means the gain is genuinely clean. On many other pedals of this type, ‘unity gain’ is normally found at between 9-12 o’clock on the output level control, meaning much of the travel of the pot is actually wasted. Unity gain on the Two Stroke is at the Oil control’s minimum setting, allowing for more control across its range. If you just want to hear the effect of the pedal’s EQ, set the Oil to zero. Simple.
Active Dual-Parametric EQ
Parametric EQ has many advantages over a traditional tone stack, or even a graphic equalizer. With no pre-defined frequencies, parametric allows for seamless control over your tone without complex sliders that can actually limit tonal flexibility and sound over-dramatic and unnatural. The Two Stroke features dual independent parametric bands, Hi (850 Hz – 8.2 kHz) and Lo (120 Hz – 1.2 kHz), which cover a wide and usable range. Each band has a finely tuned Q curve along with up to 18dB of cut or boost, meaning the Two Stroke is capable of shaping an infinite number of sounds with a smoothness that is lacking in most graphic EQs. With the Hi and Lo controls set to noon, the frequency response is totally neutral when all you need is a completely transparent boost.
Internal Charge Pump
Like all Orange pedals, the Two Stoke features an internal charge pump which doubles the operating voltage to 18 V. This has the effect of drastically increasing the headroom of the pedal whilst lowering the noise floor of the EQ. The result: the cleans are clearer and the tone circuit is significantly quieter than a regular 9 V pedal. Plus it’ll take a hot signal without floundering, meaning the Two Stroke stacks really well with overdrive and distortion pedals. The Two Stroke can be powered by 9V battery or standard DC adapter, or for even more output can also run on 12 V DC.
Transparent Buffered Bypass
Whilst ‘true bypass’ switching is well intentioned, many players are now realizing the importance of a high quality buffer in their signal chain in order to maintain tonal integrity. The Two Stroke’s buffered bypass takes care of this with its ultra-linear, low impedance buffered bypass switching, retaining your guitar’s upper harmonic content even with long cable runs and large pedal boards. It also eliminates the problem of switching ‘thump’ common to true-bypass pedals, so you can step on the Two Stroke with confidence.

I got this to pair with my Orange OR15, and it sounds great with it. Not that the OR15 needs a boost, but having a boost pedal allows for some flexibility when playing live. The EQ adjustments on the pedal were build with a guitarist in mind... I can really dial in exactly what I want emphasized. It beats the pants off the usual "bass" and "treble" knobs. I usually use all my overdrives as boosts (gain on 0, output on 10), and the two-stroke beats them all, of course. It can be very transparent, but it can also really add some mojo if you listen and tweak for a bit. I'm excited to get some time with it on other amps, as I'm sure it can be tailored to any preamp and guitar combo. I'm so glad I took a chance and checked this out.
Just what you need!

My favorite equalizer pedal for tone shaping(high gain)

I primarily like to use the Orange Two Stroke pedal to have extra control over my high gain tone. I found this pedal to be very useful as a clean boost with two adjustable eq bands allowing you to push your amps harder and also shape the sound coming your guitar before the Amplifier input. Recently I've also used it in the fx loop to sometimes scoop out a little bit of mid range on amps that tend to sound boxy or to brighten a very dark sounding amp. I've even used it after distortion pedals to further modify the sound. The parametric eq really allows you to sweep through the frequency spectrum to find the particular frequency ranges that may sound unpleasant to your ears and easily reduce them. Using this pedal with my favorite amplifiers allows me to take my high gain tones from being maybe a 7 or a 8 on my own scale to being a 9 or a 10, as it really makes me feel like I have complete control and the ability to shape my sound as I desire. Also this pedal apparently has an internal charge pump which doubles the operating voltage to 18v, allowing for increased headroom. This is very helpful especially when you're boosting frequencies as it reduces the potential for unpleasant distortion and overloading of the signal. Compared to other equalizers I've tried in the past (which were mostly graphic equalizers), I found the sound quality of the Orange Two Stroke to be very clean and clear but effective. It's been my favorite eq so far for shaping and customizing high gain tones! And I'm sure there are many other ways the Two Stroke could be used in addition to how I've utilized it. I hope to always have one of these in my collection, or maybe even two or three!
Orange Two Stroke with Orange OR15

I recently bought an Orange OR15 and since it is a single channel amp, one needs to be smart on how to get different tones and boosts for lead work. Cutting through the mix in a live situation can be tough on a two channel (clean & dirty) let alone a single channel amp. Putting booster or distortion pedals in front only create more pre-amp gain and compression and will not lift volume. (on a dirty channel) After some online study, I became aware that a CLEAN boost put in the effects loop will not cause the extra compression that putting it in front will cause. It actually drives the output tubes and does lift the volume enough to work for solos. Now...add two parametric EQs to hone in on the mids to even further the solo boost and now you have practically added a lead channel to your amp!!! It works like a champ!
I would buy this again

Great pedal to give my Marshall some chimey crunch at lower volumes. Does great Black Sabbath tones cranked up.I like it better than the Sabracadabra as I can get cleaner tone by backing off on my guitar volume.
