Open Box Zoom H2N Handy Recorder Level 1

Description
The Zoom H2n Handy Recorder is a revolutionary handheld recording solution ready for any audio need. Featuring five studio-grade onboard condenser mics in an ultra-portable body, the H2n lets you record pristine audio wherever inspiration strikes. With Mid-Side stereo, X/Y stereo, 2-channel surround and 4-channel surround options, you get tons of recording possibilities in one compact device. The H2n redefines handheld recording and provides amazing sound for filmmakers, journalists, musicians, podcasters and more.
Groundbreaking Mid-Side Stereo
The H2n is the first portable recorder to offer Mid-Side stereo recording, a technique used by audio professionals to capture ambient surroundings. A unidirectional Mid mic focuses on sound directly in front while a bi-directional Side mic captures left and right. Adjust the level of the Side mic to control stereo width—even after recording. For extra versatility, use Mid-Side with the X/Y mics to create stunning 360-degree surround sound.
Familiar X/Y Stereo
The H2n also provides onboard 90° X/Y stereo condenser mics. Arranged with right and left mics on the same axis, X/Y ensures mics remain equidistant from the sound source for natural stereo depth and accurate imaging. X/Y is ideal for live music, acoustic instruments, and other critical recordings requiring precision.
Choose 2-Channel or 4-Channel Surround
In Surround mode, the H2n combines its Mid-Side and X/Y mics to capture immersive surround recordings. Select 2-channel to mix Mid-Side and X/Y, or choose 4-channel to record separate Mid-Side and X/Y files for more advanced post-production. Surround mode is perfect for capturing audience reactions, ambient room tone, and other applications where a lifelike listening experience is essential.
Simple Yet Powerful
Despite its impressive capabilities, the H2n is remarkably easy to use. An intuitive interface puts critical controls at your fingertips, while functions like Auto-Gain, a compressor/limiter, time stamping, and data recovery have you covered in any recording scenario. A 1.8" LCD provides clear monitoring, and 20 hours of battery life means you can keep recording all day and into the night.

Utilitarian, neat-o, nifty and handy!
Why so many stars? Because this little tool WILL take the place of all types of gear in all types of situations. If you just sit it in the palm of your hand, it seems like just a gimmicky little recorder - perhaps nothing special. But the practical uses for this thing are endless. The multiple mics and record settings allow you to put this tool to work wherever you happen to be, and you can be confident that you are getting clean clear audio with great depth and low noise. I've only had it a week and have become comfortable using my thumb to navigate the menus and make settings. There is only one real design issue, and that is the tiny rotating dial at the top of the unit that is dedicated to choosing your mic configuration: You sort of have to apply a little pressure with the tip of a finger or thumb to get the thing to turn. Other than that, all menu settings and screens are easy to access and make adjustments. Funny story - One GC associate said these (Zoom) devices were proprietary to Sam Ash, and GC carried them because they sold well. Another guy said components were Sanyo. A third guy said Samsung. Actually, the Zoom H2n is made by SAMSON - maker of - what else? - MICROPHONES! Anyway, I bought one, and the accessory kit, and it looks like a toy but works like a champ. I use it with my video recorder and also to make samples that I drag into Ableton Live. Big fun. Pretty cheap!

Microphone Level's Auto Setting a Joke. Hard to get mic level set right without multiple tries, then you can't tell quickly if it sounds good because playback speaker worse than children's walkie-talkie. Very Easy to Mess Up settings and playing a file is done elsewhere than where it is shown on display (which looks like a Casio Watch!)...

After having tried the Zoom product for podcasts, I found this microphone and recorder to be perfect for what I needed. It does what I hoped the other product would do. It can take line in from a synth and record it and has a wonderful microphone and can plug in live into a computer through USB. It does seem to only do microphone or voice recording, however, not both at the same time. The manual is okay, but it is less detailed than I wanted it to be. I am not quite sure if I could pull off both keyboard input and microphone input at the same time, unless I ran the keyboard through a speaker and recorded both keyboard and voice with the microphone. I do like the simplicity of this unit.

I have been using the Zoom recorder to record speeches and I record off the PA through the TRS input to the recorder. Main reason we like the recorder is that it small and we can record using internal mics or through an input line. Also the recorder takes a standard SD card, I never cared for the micro cards and then having to use an adaptor to input the data to a desktop. Sound quality is everything you need, records in MP3 and it is not expensive. For spot recording, quick recording and non-multi-channel recording... it works great. Our first unit, which we still use, has been in service for 10 years or more...

I use it to record band practices, demos, ambient sounds, live concerts, and, in my studio, my Lyon & Healy pedal harp and Dusty Strings Celtic harp. My wife uses it to record meetings (she's recording secretary for a local charity organization). It does a fine job in all applications.

I've only had this for a couple of weeks and so far it's doing what I need. It was fairly easy to navigate thru the menu and the one touch start/stop record button is great. The playback of a recording is ok considering it has small speakers but a quick USB hook up to a computer with some speakers and your all set. It's a great little recorder for the money.

Can I connect this device to my Rebel T2i Canon Camera so it will record the audio to my video? The camera has a 3.5mm Stereo input for external mic.
