I do a Motley Crue tribute band, and our backing vocals have always been a weekspot, as we can't find reliable females to help with Crue's notoriously high, and full backing vox. This Padal makes a very nice difference. The 'Octave up' doubler feature really works great to make us sound MUCH more full. It sounds like we're using backing tracks, but we're NOT. It's just me, coming through this pedal, and bam! Instant Dr. Feelgood record sound! I also use it in my originals band, which has taken our backing vocals to a new level, live. I haven't recorded with it yet, but I'm confident it will sound great if/when I do. I definitely recommend this pedal for many different styles and genres. It works as advertised for sure!

I use a slight vocal double on most of our tracks which is easy to do in the DAW, but now it's even easier live. I use the "thin" setting with about 1/3 wet and 2/3 dry to give me the sound I need and, wow, it does it perfectly, without latency and it sounds natural (not digitized or robotic). It definitely sets your vocals apart from the rest. I also like that TC went with these singles stomp boxes instead of the more cumbersome dual switch pedals. I play guitar also, so I already have enough stomp boxes to deal with and this minimizes the footprint on my stomp rig and simplifies the layout. If you are looking to add a little thickness to your vocals, this is the ticket!

I bought the TC Helicon D1 for it's "Octive Down" effect to reproduce a very low vocal part that is impossible for me to sing in a live setting. The D1 nailed it! I can get the same effect with other more expensive units, but they require programming and I'm not into all that fussing around. Step on the pedal and there it is. It could not be easier. The other effects are cool too, especially "Detune" and "Thick".

I scored the unit at the Tukwila store after reading about it in the new arrivals. My home digital analog hybrid studio needed a ADT capability beyond my delay modulation manipulations. What this does is allow easy double tracking that is fail safe. I do mean fail safe as it is hard to make it sound bad. I have other tc electronic equipment that is fab and this lives up to the other stuff. There is a control for attentuation, which adds another gain stage in my already oversatuated setup, but the drawbacks are small compared to what is the results. There is phantom power provided, which is unclear in either the overview or instructions. My rating is an 11 for a stomp box set up.
