Simmons

collapse expand iconDescription

The Simmons DA2112 Advanced electronic drum amp delivers the power and fidelity you need for impactful live performance and recording. Its 12" speaker and 1" compression driver provide a balanced, full-range frequency response, while its 2,000W peak power and 350W RMS rating ensure you'll have all the volume you need for any stage. A four-knob EQ gives you complete control over your tone so you can shape the sound to suit your needs.

Premium Components for Powerful, Balanced Sound

The DA2112 is equipped with professional-grade components, including a 12" speaker and 1" compression driver, that reproduce the entire audible frequency spectrum with clarity and accuracy. The result is a drum sound that's full, rich and balanced. With an RMS power rating of 350W and peak power of 2,000W, this amp has more than enough power for live performance and recording applications.

Four-Band EQ Provides Tonal Flexibility

A four-band EQ gives you control over your drum sound's tone and timbre. Adjust the lows, mids, highs and presence to accentuate or attenuate different frequency ranges. Cut through a dense mix with a midrange boost, get extra thump from your kick drum with enhanced low end or add shimmer and articulation to your cymbals with boosted highs. The EQ allows you to shape your tone to suit the venue, instrument and style of music.

Versatile Connectivity Options

The DA2112 provides flexible connectivity options for any application. It features three stereo line inputs for connecting drum modules, electronic percussion pads and other line-level instruments. An auxiliary input allows you to connect MP3 players, smartphones and other media devices to play along with or rehearse to backing tracks. Bluetooth connectivity lets you wirelessly stream audio from Bluetooth-enabled devices. A headphone output lets you practice silently when needed.

Rugged, Portable Design

The DA2112 is built to withstand the rigors of frequent transport and live performance. Its wooden cabinet is durable yet lightweight and it includes both floor and pole mounts so you can place the amp at the optimal height for any situation. A convenient carry handle makes the amp easy to move from place to place.

Decent powered amp for my Simmons SD-1250 e-drums

Purchased this for use mainly at home for personal practice. On the plus side, it has some very handy features that will help you get a good sound out of your drums, however, as you may read elsewhere, it is perhaps a bit under powered. This amp has been compared with the Alesis Strike 12 which supposedly is louder but not as feature laden. (i.e. no EQ, not as many inputs etc.) The Simmons might not be loud enough in a small band practice or even as a drum monitor for live performance either, depending on the type of music I suppose. That being said, I find it quite suitable for my needs and, on sale, an affordable one. There are some excellent reviews on YouTube for both products and highly recommend watching them before you decide.

Not as loud as the DA200sb it replaced

I use this to practice at home and as a monitor at jam sessions. it is replacing a 200watt DA200sb. I play with a Yamaha DTX502 series. It excels on features but falls short on the 2 most critical issues Great features that work: -The 4 band EQ is great the DA200sb had to much mid range this helps a lot. - multiple stereo inputs.you can hook a lot up to this with out a mixer or audio interface - Input 3 isolation is awesome because I can get an isolated headphone mix and a separate PA mix - I use the aux input for practice to play along to iTunes, Spotify and YouTube. - it has a pole mount - I have not used the link feature. If I keep this I will get the sub and/or another DA2112 - I have used this as a single speaker PA for 2 people. I played with a guitarist using an iRig. It sounded good but was so quiet we didn't use a microphone to chat while jamming. Features that fall flat: -it is very low volume. I have to turn this up to max input and almost max master to not here the sound of sticks hitting rubber heads when I play heavy. This is approximately 4x higher than the DA200b for the same volume. On a scale of 1 to 10 the DA2112 @ 9 = the DA200sb @ 2.5. - The sub is not as effective up close. To hear and feel the base over the pedal noise I have to turn the low eq all the way up, or move the amp across the room where I can no longer adjust while at my kit. The DA2112 @ 10 = the DA200sb @ 3 - With head phones I have to max out the volume at about 2x the volume for the DA200sb. The DA2112 @ 10 = the DA200sb @ 5. - this means there is no headroom to get more volume. For 90% of my use this is OK. I just don't get to play as loud as I used to. The worst feature: -The bluetooth emits a very loud buzzing noise even with all input and volume set to zero. To over power the buzz it has to be at almost 50% volume. when the music stops you can here the buzzing. -The buzz volume does not change with the master or input volume. but it will get a little quieter if I turn all 4 eq down all the way to -50%. - if I use the headphones only, the people in the next room can still hear the bluetooth buzzing, with the master volume set to zero. It doesn't buzz much in the headphones. - I use the bluetooth 100% of the time I play at home because I use my phone to control the drums via USB and stream music to play along to, - Based on the reviews I have read this is not an issue in every unit. If I trade for a Mackie thumpmaser 12 or an Alesis Striker 12 it will only be for the volume issue since those don't have Bluetooth. I can get around the bluetooth issue by using a different device like a laptop with 1/8" inputs. I don't like this option as Bluetooth is a key feature used to market the system and should be significantly better I would rather have the DA200sb back as the only function it didn't have was 1 of the inputs, input isolation and only a 3 band EQ. I used (2) Yamaha NS-6590s as satellite monitors. It had plenty of headroom and with a little mixer I had even more inputs.

Its a great little powerhouse for practice and quite capable of handling a venue. I'm planning to buy another one for my studio . The Bluetooth and EQ are a bonus. The pole or floor option is very useful. One of the guys in my band also ordered one. FREE shipping too. This item is a must have

Bought two of these to go with a Simmons drum kit. Wanted stereo sound with enough power to make an e-kit feel like an acoustic kit. It's set up in our living room, so I also use these as our stereo since I can stream BT audio. Good sound apart from a constant hiss that's noticed at low levels.

  • Loud enough for solo practice, cymbals sound good

I'm a new drummer, the amp is loud enough for solo practice, but you'd probably want a second DA2112 and Simmon's subwoofer amp if you were playing with an electric guitarist or bass player. Or an acoustic drum kit. I tried plugging the e-drum kit (Alesis nitro max) into my 100W bass guitar amp (Acoustic B100c, tried both the guitar and aux input jacks), and the cymbals definitely sounded better on the Simmons. With a bass guitar plugged in, the DA2112 volume could be turned up all the way without seeming too loud, while I've never been able to turn the Acoustic B100c up more than halfway. Turning down the bass EQ helps keep the kick drum from tripping the clipping light. I picked the DA2112 over the Alesis Strike drum amp because of multiple reviewers saying the Alesis died within a year. #sweepstakes

Pricing was reasonable. I do have an issue with volume when I ran my DTX Multi 12 pad through the amp. I had to turn up the volume almost all the way to get a decent level. I was using this in a musical theatre setting which is fine but think it would be a problem for live setting in a band without miking the amp.

I have a Alesis Nitro Max Kit Electric Drum Set for personal use and would like to get this speaker for the drum set. Is it better to get this model or get two sets of the DA2108? Also, what cables I need to buy to connect it to my electric drum? Thank you!
