Sennheiser - The Future of Audio

Description
The Sennheiser MKH416 is an industry-standard short shotgun interference microphone optimized for recording superior-quality audio in a variety of professional applications. With its supercardioid/lobar polar pattern, compact and rugged design, and tailored frequency response, the MKH416 is ideal for film, television, radio, and voiceover work—especially in outdoor environments.
Supercardioid Polar Pattern Provides Tight Focus and Feedback Rejection
The MKH416's supercardioid polar pattern provides tight directivity, focusing in on the desired sound source while attenuating unwanted background noise and rejecting feedback. Its lobar pattern above 2 kHz helps capture subtle details and articulation. The result is a clear, focused, and feedback-free recording perfect for dialog, voiceovers, and sound effects.
Tailored Frequency Response for Natural and Accurate Reproduction
With a frequency range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, the MKH416 is tailored to capture the natural nuances and timbre of the human voice as well as surrounding ambience. The subtle boosts and dips in its frequency response are carefully tuned to reproduce sound as accurately and transparently as possible, ideal for any application where sonic truth is paramount.
Rugged and Reliable for Demanding Productions
Featuring a durable matte black finish and high immunity to humidity thanks to its RF condenser design, the MKH416 is built to withstand the rigors of field production and environmental changes. Its compact size also makes it highly portable and enables discreet placement, while the included MZW415 windscreen and MZQ 100 microphone clamp provide protection from the elements and versatility in mounting options.
A Standard for Professionals Worldwide
Trusted by audio engineers in film, television, radio, and voiceover studios around the globe, the Sennheiser MKH416 shotgun microphone has earned its reputation as an industry standard for quality and performance. With its versatility, rugged build, and ability to capture pristine and impactful recordings, the MKH416 should be an essential part of any professional audio toolkit.

My wife is thrilled with her new microphone!

My wife is a voice actor, and she's been gradually getting better and better quality mics, but she's been dreaming about this one for a while now. She said it was all she wanted for an anniversary/Christmas present. So, in December, I bought the Sennheiser MKH 416 for her - and boy am I popular. She's raving about the quality of the sound, and I can't say enough about the quality of the service we got at Guitar Center. Ordering and picking up the mic was a breeze, and then a couple of weeks later, when I came back in because of the 45-day price guarantee, they remembered me and my order the moment I walked in. And that price guarantee was amazing. Sennheiser dropped the price by over $200, so when we saw that, we gathered up the paperwork and went back to the store. It was so simple… just a few minutes later they refunded us the difference. So that made both my wife and I very happy! Great service and a fantastic mic!

My wife is a voice actor and for our 21st wedding anniversary/Christmas gift, I got her this Sennheiser MKH 416 microphone. It's what she said she wanted, and well - "happy wife, happy life!" She's had a couple of other mics she's tried, but this was supposed to be "the one" for voiceover, so I ordered it for her from Guitar Center. The crew at the Roseville store was so helpful and friendly. And they offered a price guarantee - if it was less expensive at any legit provider within 45 days, we could bring in the paperwork and they'd refund us the difference. the price did drop - by about $215 - a couple of weeks after I bought it, and when we walked in, they remembered me, and totally took care of us. It was such great service, and my wife LOVES the mic. She keeps describing it as a really "authentic" sound. So I asked her to record a video for this review.

I own many microphones. I have a problem. If you are looking for adding this to your mic locker i would highly recommend it. As always, try the mic first and see if it fits your voice is more important than just going to whats more expensive or touted. However, that being said, i have had great pleasure in using this mic. I primarily use this for Voice over, or studio use, and in the future try i will try and incorporate it for field recordings as well. This mic fits my voice well, i hardly even needed to clean audio or do anything in post as it sounded natural, clean, and just good raw. Comes in a nice package, case, windscreen, certificate and mount included. Also very light which is a plus for many. This review is long as is. It's a great mic, I'd 100% recommend it if you can purchase it. It's definitely worth the cost.

For use in studio for voiceovers, and live on location for short and feature films and TV work. The Sennheiser 416 has been an industry standard for voices on films for many years. Still perfectly balanced for this. Works well with the Zoom H6 also. You need to purchase the Sennheiser handle with cradle for microphone, blimp and deadcat. It was cost you the same price as the mic it self for these three. However they are a must have if you serious about sound for film. I have used them in high wind and still got amazing voice recording!
