About a little over a year ago I walked into the store looking to get a second bass while I fixed up my old Squire jazz bass. My favorite color is blue so I already was kinda into it. Demoed it and fell in love. Smooth neck feel, nice rolled edges and very varied eq settings on it. You can get almost any sound. The neck through construction is so cool. Very beautiful instrument. If you're looking for something a little different this isn't a bad choice. I've noticed some people had hit or miss ones in the finish but I'd recommend checking it out in person to avoid these problems. Mine was perfect. Only real cons I can think of are that it takes 2 9volt batteries and that the color is darker in person than in the pictures. Otherwise excellent bass.
Beautiful and plays like a dream

This bass is sooo nice. It's got a beautifully smooth and slim neck, responsive pickups, a ton of tonal possibilities, and a wicked emerald burst finish. Quality is top notch from the bridge to the pickups to the tuners. To say I am pleased is the understatement of the century.
Emerald burst all the way!

This bass is amazing. The color is more vibrant in person which is something I was counting on. The sound and feel are just wow especially for the price. What could be be possibly a turn off for some people is the Matt paint finish because you can still feel the wood and not a coating. Overall highly recommend this bass.
A lot of bass for the price

Excellent playing and sounding bass. The only downside was when I received it via mail the pickup screws were backed all the way out which I thought was weird. I tightened them down but it would keep pushing the screws back out. I took to my local guitar tech and he took care of it for $15 no worries. The setup was perfect upon arrival.

I'm a huge schecter fam. Own about 7 schecter guitars, so I figured I'd try a bass. Sounded good. But the finish is garbage. I had 2 sent to me. They didnt sand the wood good enough before the final finish or something. There was holes and cracks all throughout the body of the guitar, and could feel all the imperfections down the neck. I contacted schecter, and they said it was supposed to be like that. Lol, no, the neck of any guitar should be smooth.

Over the years I have owned over a dozen bass guitars. Expensive and inexpensive always looking for the right one for me. Five string, four string, beautiful and ugly, short and long scale I tried them all. I had my favorites, but none stopped me from looking for a better one. I had never tried a Schecter Stiletto Studio-4. They are a lot of them around but slipped past me somehow. I have stopped looking because I have found the best for me. The sound and feel are amazing. It isn't cheap, but definitely not expensive. I have had people swoon over a PJ costing almost twice the price of this bass, but I wouldn't swap for any price. It came through the mail with no need for adjustments or setup. What I can't understand is how it can stay in tune for hour after hour.

What is the reference to "18-volts"? Do the pickups require two 9-volt batteries? Is there an Active/Passive switch, that bypasses the batteries?
Yes, two batteries. Unfortunately, no. There is no switch.submitted6 years ago
