Pretty dang distortion for a small solid state amp. For the price, I would say it is hard to find anything that comes close. If you are a parent looking for a starter amp for your kid, this would be ideal. If you are a 50-something that wants to start playing again, you're going to love how small and light this amp is. It is also surprisingly loud for its size.

This is a lenthy review but i have had this amp for a good month before i wrote a review. Bottom line this is a geeat pratice amp for beginners and all the way up. Great for bedroom and late night. Now i want to get into dirter deatail. There is a slight volume issue. When played through the speaker it seems to be really quite then just with a really minor touch it jumps a bit much. I do like the simplicity of the amp just gain volume 3 band eq and basic effects. This is good because if you don't need a thousand different effects than it works. I have tried other modeling amps and there is so much stuff the amp squels because there's to much. The eq isn't always the best the mids seem to be on the bumped side. The bass seems very suddle and I find the highs have to be almost cranked. This leads to the wooly kinda muddy sound. Because of the cmos and ability to change the different sounds it can have issues with being clear. Even when using p90s or single coils. But other sounds are really good. For clean the JC setting is great. The crunch I found the "tweed" is the most open sounding and high gain or lead the "metal" which is a 5150 is the best. These 3 sound least muddy and most open and useable. But the single coils bring me to the next issue. I know there is a 60 cycle hum but with any bit of higher gain the hum is almost as loud as the playing and even when you are playing the hum seems like it's in the background. But these issues aren't major It still is a really cool amp with great features. I can plug my headphones in at 2 am and jam as much as I want. The cleans are great the crunch is perfect for blues rock and punk. The high gain will do metal for days. And it can hold a 7 string with no problem. I hope this helps anyone. If it didn't have the other small issues I would give it a 5 star. I do like this amp better than the blackstar id core the peavey vypyr the line 6 spiders. So it's a great amp.

I use it for practice. Although it has a bass setting you can program via the phone kit, the speaker is not as good as a basic bass amp like a fender rumble. The default presets sound the best, and if you need a different sound, it's probably best to use pedals on the clean setting. The effects aren't as good as I hoped for. The chorus effect is nice; but delay, reverb, and spring could be loads better. It gets the job done and I wasn't needing the other effects to be there at all so a good purchase for me, but if you need all the features to be awesome, look elsewhere.

It depends on the use. For just solo, or practice it would work. It may not be strong enough for live performance.

This amp is designed for use with electric guitars, so it may not sound good when used with an electronic drum kit.
