Road Runner

collapse expand iconDescription

This hardshell guitar case from Road Runner is designed to fit most banjos.

The molded case has a non-scratch, thicker pile, plush-lined interior and padded neck brace with 2 accessory compartments-one covered and one open. To give extra protection to your special instrument, the exterior is a hardened, roadworthy shell.

Other features include a tongue-and-groove valance, rubber feet, 3 riveted latches-the middle one has a lock & key mechanism-and an offset handle for easier transportation.

The soft, plush interior protects your banjo from scratches and nicks, plus Road Runner uses a special, eco-friendly, dye-free material, which eliminates the release of polluting bi-products into the environment.

Great Banjo case

I recently purchased the roadrunner banjo hardshell case. Worth the money without question. Super tough exterior with the addition of the backside clasp. The interior is much more plush and padded than the others. You can drop it with the instrument inside from at least 6 feet and nothing goes wrong. (It happened to me). Should be considered if buying a case.

Will serve my needs, but quality is a bit disappointing

I bought this for an early 1970's Epiphone 5 string banjo, primarily for home storage. Be advised, the interior dimensions given in the product description are correct for length and body diameter, but the maximum height of the case inside is 4.5" at most. PRO's: Overall fit is good for my instrument, and I like the fact that the interior padding on the lid stops just below the base of the neck, so it holds the banjo in place without putting any additional pressure on the bridge. I also "like" the fact that the neck cradle is positioned out of my way (it's much too low to use as is) so I can add some custom home-made padding elsewhere under the neck to support and position the banjo to my liking. CON's: The overall quality of the case is somewhat poor. For examples, attachment of hardware to the plastic shell doesn't seem very strong, the case shell is quite flimsy when not latched closed, the design and positioning of the neck cradle is very poor (if you were hoping to use it as is), and the strap to constrain the case lid when open is too short (I'll need to cut and lengthen it). Granted, this would I suppose be considered a relatively inexpensive case, but I expected better design, materials, and construction. All that said, I will be keeping it and modifying it for my use. I expect it should be ok.

Qualifier: I own and use at least 8 Pro Instruments & Cases from 12 Strings, 6 Strings, a Les Paul, a Strat, a Mandolin, a "P Bass" and just recently purchased this for a new Banjitar. In my opinion, this Road Runner Banjo Case is a solid value for everything upto, but not including a $300 Plus "Flight Case. In other words, with care it should protect and last for years. Plus, it's surprisingly light weight and easy to carry compared to my other hard cases. As long as you don't drop it off the loading dock or into the Pool, or pile Equipment on top of it, or LEND IT OUT, you'll be good to go. Thanks, Guitar Center!
