The Phil Leadbetter Signature Squareneck Resonator

The Phil Leadbetter Signature Squareneck Resonator

Recording King

Description

Internationally known, Grammy-nominated player Phil Leadbetter has won IBMA's Dobro Player of the Year multiple times and been inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. Recording King is honored to be working with Phil and proud to be building the Phil Leadbetter Signature Model.

This wood body squareneck resonator is constructed of highly flamed maple, and features an interior bracing pattern specifically guided and chosen by Phil himself. Recording King's hand-spun spider cone beautifully complements the sandcast spider bridge, for a truly professional-level sound that can be heard on Phil's recordings and on stages around the world.

Phil's signature can be found inlaid in pearl at the 12th fret, and his sonic stamp is found in every detail of the guitar.

I have been playing acoustic guitar for 8 years now, started when I was 60 years old. But this is my first time playing the dobro so I can't say a lot about this dobro compared to any other brand except that is it a very beautiful instrument with a beautiful rich sound. The color is over awesome along with the solid feel of the guitar. The only thing I would of liked to see would have been putting screens in the sound holes. To easy to have something fall inside. But that of course doesn't effect the sound. I am well pleased with the price but would have liked to had a case with it. It's to nice to run a chance of damage!

I use this guitar on stage, recording and also teaching classes. I have told my students they should buy this guitar because it may be the last one they need to buy. A big portion of my students play these RK Leadbetter models. Unbelievable price!! Recording King hit a home run on this guitar.

I use this square neck dobro for gigs. Its craftsmanship is flawless (really) and its projection is quite loud. It has a really nice even sound to it. It doesn't rattle or sound thin - it has a full sound and it delivers the individual notes well. I opened her up to take a look inside and it was spotless. No excess glue to be seen anywhere. Everything was nicely sanded and smooth and the alignment of the bracing was spot on. All in all, I was and am pleasantly pleased with this dobro. It's a beautiful squareneck dobro with a lot of potential. Whether you use it for gigs (and it's worthy of that) or just to practice on, either way you can't go wrong with this one. I highly recommend this one. And I'm no rookie to guitars - I've been playing for forty years and have owned some of the finest guitars, dobros, mandolins, and basses. I can honestly say, for the money, this one was really put together well. I understand now why the artist put his name on this one. Get it, you'll be happy that you did! I know that I am! Love it - well worth the price and then some!

Can you tell me what brand and gauge strings come installed on this dobro? Thanks.

Unfortunately, no. The manufacturer has not made that information available. I think they're standard 12's.
