Rode NT1-A Condenser

Rode NT1-A Condenser

RODE

Description

To celebrate 15 years of the RØDE NT1 and NT1-A, RØDE microphones has created a revised NT1-A package, including a premium shockmount, pop filter, cable, microphone dust cover and a bonus instructional DVD. Originally released in 1995, the RØDE NT1 mic is found in professional and project studios the world over. Its combination of clarity, warmth, extended dynamic range and high-SPL capability made it an instant classic with professional engineers and home recording artists alike.

Following heavy investment in precision manufacturing, RØDE revised the microphone capsule and electronic design of the NT1, resulting in only 5dB SPL (A-weighted per IEC651) of self noise. Released in 2003 as the NT1-A, it has since become one of the world's biggest selling and most recognizable condenser microphones. Now, RØDE has truly made the NT1-A the complete recording solution by including a premium shockmount with integrated pop filter, high-quality 6m (20') XLR cable, microphone dust cover and even a bonus instructional DVD. Presented by RØDE founder and company president, Peter Freedman, The NT1-A Studio Secrets DVD features a range of tips and techniques to help RØDE NT1-A owners get the most from their new microphone.

A must have in your collection

I cannot believe the build quality of this mic and more important the quality of it's sound. Believe it or not this is the only mic in my collection that I don't have to EQ a vocal much or even EQ it at all. This mic is so clean and clear even singing right up close into it. I believe this mic will bennefit any type of voice or instrument. I haven't used it to record accoustic guitar yet and will post a review of the results. Don't let the price fool you on this one. It's not made cheap and it certainly doesn't sound cheap.

    Not sure

Got this as a present a few years ago. Finality took it out to put some vocal tracks and the mic is dead. If you tap on the side it makes noise but no vocals. Will Contact guitar center and rode to see what they can do . Crossing fingers

The mic is working flawlessly and the pop-filter too. BUT, the pop-filter is straight across from the mic stand connect so it can only do one direction which is away from stand. This makes placement of the stand in your space limited. The filter cannot be angled.

    • Great response and transparency

I bought this microphone to replace one that came with a Steinberg audio interface. This Rode mic is much more responsive and has a clarity and transparency that astounds me. Vocals come alive in a way that I hadn't expected - I feel like I need less in the way of processing after the fact. This get it right at the source!

    • Great Mic super happy about the purchase!

Just tested out my new Rode NT1-A mic. One word, WOW! So much clearer and better than my previous condenser microphone! Came packed in a nice secure box and comes with a mic bag. The microphone seems to be made very well from Australia!! Quality heavy duty solid microphone! Can't wait to try it out on my next song in my studio. I will probably use it for vocals mainly but I tested it with my vocal and acoustic guitar together on one track and it seemed to pickup my vocal and guitar very well!! Happy with this microphone and will be looking at other Rode microphones in the future! (that's not to say I won't still use my Shure and Sennheiser mics as well) but my new Rode Microphone is a nice addition to the family!! :)

Sounds great without any processing, but best for situations where there is a limit on background noise. Picks up headphone bleed like nobody's business, so have some good closed backs. If i had a soundproof or well treated room it would be ideal. Unfortunately, the mic came with a problem at the XLR connection and crackles a lot. I contacted RODE support and the got back to me promptly and said that wasn't a common occurrence and suggested I return it.

You would need an interface or device with phantom power and a cable to connect that to your phone.
