I have many mini heads this thing is a complete monster! Amazing distortion channel with a perfect clean channel … I immediately started pricing the full sized head.

This amp has a lot of great features and is very versatile. I have owned several Peavey guitar and bass amps and have always had good experiences with the quality of their products. The options for 20W, 5W and 1W output is fantastic and allows for playing in any situation. I am using this with an EVH 5150 III 212 cabinet and it works great in a band situation. I'm not competing with 100 W guitar amps, so it's not a problem. I bought a second foot switch to use the Boost and Effects functions. I am using an effects processor through the effects loop, and it works great. (this is replacing a Marshall DSL 40CR which had problems with the effects loop and other issues with the design). If I would change/add anything, it might be a master volume. If I really needed more power (I don't see it happening any time soon), I would buy the 120W head based on my experiences with this mini head.

I looked at dozens of amp heads and none of them quite compared to this one, loaded with tons of controls, the sound is massive! high quality build. Glad I decided to spend a bit more and grab this over the other similar ones!

Peavey and Misha got this one right. Great sound and very versatile compared to others. I like this better than the EVH 50 watt and the Orange Dark Terror. Headphones, effects loop, and adjustable wattage at 1 or 5 or 20 watts. Loud and heavy thick tube sound. Great choice for metal and very petal friendly. Sounds great. I thought the price would have been higher for what all you get. Very happy with this amp.

  • Really great amp for the cost

I've only ever used this amp with headphones. It sounds ok. Will it sound much better through a cabinet? Also, if it does, is one of the reasons because the amp gets "pushed" with a cabinet, unlike headphones? I feel the reason the amp sounds just ok with headphones is, the headphones don't push the amp, am I right?

This amp has a built-in internal dummy load. Pressing button located directly above headphone jack, the "defeat" setting, causes amp to send signal to the dummy load. This is what is stated in the amp's owner's manual. Wouldn't this feature allow user to use amp without a speaker cabinet, just headphones?

Because this amp has built-in msdi, with the included headphone jack, does this mean I can use amp, with just headphones and no speaker cabinet?

Can I use this amp with just headphones, or does it require a load as well? Also, do you know when more will be in stock?
