Open Box Novation Impulse 61 MIDI Controller Level 1

Amazing controller works well with Logic Pro!!

This is a great sized midi controller for the price. I wish it could be fully weighted, but for the price and for the level of functionality, I'm happy with the semi weighted keys.

I love the semi-weighted keys on this one. All the integrated controls make sequencing techniques easier. The best reason to buy this controller is because of its automap software that its compatible with the principal DAWS and isntruments out there

I got this controller about 2 weeks ago and have been very satisfied with it so far. It's primary purpose in my keyboard stable is to program and play parts for virtual instruments in my DAW. I also plan to use it as an option for small live gigs where I don't need or can't bring an 88key keyboard, and for gigs where I might have to play two keyboards. It seems like it's perfect as a backup or secondary keyboard. I really like the design and construction of this controller. It feels very solid even though it is very light weight. All of the knobs, sliders, and keys are placed well and the board looks bigger than what it is. I'm primarily an acoustic pianist, so the action on this board is very light, almost too light for my taste. In my opinion this board is really built for musicians that need a keyboard to program stuff for their music, but aren't really keyboard players or pianists. I've played a little organ, and in my opinion the keys on this board are lighter that what is on an actual organ, but again I don't think that this board is really constructed for live players. I've found that I have to considerably lighten up my touch so I don't over play and cause the virtual instrument (piano or electric keyboard)I'm using to distort. I would really love to see Novation make a 73 or 76 key Impulse midi controller with hammer-weighted keys 20lbs or under. I think that would be an instant hit for gigging musicians who are also composers and electronic musicians. All this being said, I would recommend this product. It's solidly built (good price, good construction, good amount of features, good software)and I don't think you would regret having it in your arsenal. I'm still figuring it out (particularly the automap software) so I can't give it 5 stars as of today, but I do believe it is 5 star worthy.

The Novation Impluse 61 is the best midi keyboard in this price range (maybe any price range). Novation got the feel of this keyboard just right. The semi-weighted keys are firm and quiet; not stiff like the Akai MPK series. The after-touch is spot on. The Automap software was easy to install and quickly mapped my DAW software (Ableton) and all my VST plug-ins. I have no regrets... my friends are so jealous.

I am new to Midi keyboard. I have played piano (grand), also the weighted Yamaha digital piano. That is what I want (keyboard feel) with the Midi keyboard. This keyboard is not meeting that requirement, but is close enough. It is more convenient to carry around. I tried Akai MPC 64. I like the design, but the semi-weighted key is too difficult to play hence I returned that and get this one instead. I thought I was able to adjust to play on the Akai, but it didn't worked out. I am still exploring this keyboard. I would look for other keyboard if I have to pay more.
