Novation FLkey 61 MIDI Keyboard Controller for FL Studio | Demo and Overview with Bonnie McIntosh

Novation
Description

The Novation FLkey 49 full-size MIDI keyboard controller delivers a deeply integrated, hands-on production workflow for FL Studio users. Designed for seamless control of FL Studio’s Sequencer, Channel Rack, and Mixer, FLkey 49 lets you stay focused on making music instead of managing your screen. With expressive full-size keys, responsive pads, assignable controls, and creative tools like Scale and Chord modes, it’s built to help you play freely, move faster, and bring ideas to life with confidence.

Stay in the Groove With Fast Beat Programming

Sequencer Mode maps the FLkey 49’s pads directly to FL Studio’s step sequencer, making it easy to program beats, adjust patterns, and build rhythms without reaching for your mouse. Switch between Channel Rack and FPC Pad Modes to play beats live, add swing, or work off the grid for a more human feel. Note Repeat simplifies hi-hat rolls and rapid rhythmic patterns, keeping your grooves tight and consistent.

Hands-On Mixer and Plug-in Control

Bring FL Studio’s Mixer and Channel Rack controls off the screen and into your hands using the FLkey 49’s nine faders and eight rotary knobs. Adjust levels, pans, and parameters in real time while recording automation on the fly. Dedicated transport and workflow controls give you instant access to undo, redo, quantize, and metronome functions, while preset browsing lets you load and swap Image Line plug-ins quickly—no mouse required.

Creative Modes and Included Software Bundle

Scale Mode keeps every note in key so you can improvise melodies with ease, while three Chord Modes let you trigger rich harmonies using a single finger. To expand your sound palette, FLkey 49 includes a curated bundle of instruments and effects, including GForce Novation Bass Station, XLN Audio Addictive Keys, the AAS Session Bundle, Spitfire Audio Expressive Strings and Klevgrand DAW Cassette and Roverb. You also get a six-month trial of FL Studio Producer Edition, giving you a complete production environment to start creating polished tracks right out of the box.

Bought this for my son and he seems to really enjoy the ease of using quick buttons - everything synced automatically which is definitely less of a headache. Since he plays keyboards very well, he appears to appreciate having the keyboard to play virtual instruments. The keyboard was also reasonably priced and it is very light which makes it a breez to move around.

Does it only work in fl studio. Or can I just play the keyboard by itself

      Open Reply - Gear-Support
      1) No, but it's configured for it. You could make others work. 2) No, it not really a "keyboard". It's a "controller", not a synth. If you don't know the difference, you need to give call us to talk.
