Nobels

Description

The Nobels ODR-1 Natural OVERDRIVE Effects Pedal delivers a natural, tube-amp-like overdrive with clarity and dynamic range. Musicians can achieve crunchy rock and blues sounds or an extra boost for soloing without losing their guitar's unique character. With three knob controls to shape your overdrive, guitarists will discover a multitude of shapes and sounds.

Natural Tube-Amp Overdrive

The ODR-1 recreates the warm, natural overdrive of a tube amplifier. Its amp-like tone adds sustain and subtle breakup without harshness. The overdrive's sensitive response means chords ring out with complex harmonics while single notes have expressive nuance. For 30 years, the ODR-1 has been a secret weapon for Nashville studio guitarists and a top choice for recreating a tube-amp's musicality in a stompbox.

Versatile Tone Shaping

The ODR-1's controls offer a wide range of overdriven tones. The Spectrum control optimizes tones from bright single-coil chime to powerful humbucker rock. When adjusting the Spectrum control, the circuit ensures plenty of clarity and full dynamic range. The Drive knob determines the amount of overdrive, from a hint of grit to a singing lead tone. The Tone knob adjusts high-end response. The Bass cut control, located under the battery, enhances midrange focus for extra cut.

Stage-Ready and Built to Last

The ODR-1 is ready for any stage with its solid metal housing, glow-in-the-dark knobs for on-stage visibility and 9V-18V DC power input for headroom and sustain. ODR-1 pedals from the earliest production runs 30 years ago are still performing without issue, demonstrating the brand's commitment to quality.

I always thought that this was a Tube Screamer clone, but after looking into it a bit more, I realized that it was its own thing. It's got a very unique voice, with a lot of added bass, and it's pretty natural sounding. Almost like the sound of a cranked tube amp, like a lot of overdrive pedals try to emulate. The Spectrum control is a bit different than your average Tone control, so it takes some getting used to, and it seems to be pretty picky about where you have it. This particular model has an internal bass cut switch, to tame its inherent bass heavy sound. It's definitely a different flavor of overdrive, and I'm still on the fence about how I feel about it, but overall it's got a great sound to it. Just don't expect it to sound like a Tube Screamer.

I have several overdrive pedals but this one it's my favorite so far. It's very responsive and transparent, feels like an extension of your amp.
