Neumann

collapse expand iconDescription

The Neumann KMS 105 Microphone Black is a handheld condenser mic designed to capture vocal nuances with uncompromising accuracy. Featuring a supercardioid polar pattern and a four-layer acoustic filter, the KMS 105 rejects unwanted background noise and handling noise to optimally transmit the human voice. With a frequency response tailored for vocals and an elegant black design, this high-performance mic ensures musicians have optimal control of their performance.

Supercardioid Polar Pattern Focuses on What Matters

The KMS 105's supercardioid polar pattern provides focused pickup of vocals while attenuating sounds from the sides and rear of the mic. This directional quality complements in-ear monitor systems by reducing bleed from stage monitors and instruments. The result is a mix dominated by the vocalist's voice.

Four-Layer Acoustic Filter Blocks Plosives and Handling Noise

Neumann engineered the KMS 105 with a four-layer acoustic filter that acts as an effective pop filter and shock mount in one. The metal layers prevent plosives and handling noise from reaching the capsule, allowing vocalists to perform without worry of thumps, bumps or pops in the audio signal. This filter provides a clear, detailed sound free of artifacts.

Extended Frequency Response Captures Vocal Nuance

A studio-quality condenser capsule gives the KMS 105 an extended frequency response optimized for the human voice. This wide, flat response translates vocal nuance with accuracy, capturing the character and emotion in a performance. Compared to typical dynamic handheld mics, the KMS 105's capsule offers superior high-end clarity and resolution of detail.

Lightweight, Robust Design Built for the Stage

Weighing just 10.6 ounces, the KMS 105 is lightweight enough for long gigs and lively performances. Its robust metal casing protects the capsule and internal components from damage on the road or in storage. An included stand clamp provides a secure mount, while an optional elastic suspension is available for extra isolation. This road-ready mic brings Neumann's signature sound to stages worldwide.

Good mic. Slightly better than the Sennheiser 965.

As lead vocalist in our Classic Rock band, I replaced my Sennheiser E945 looking to get a slightly fuller sound. This mic is nothing short of OUTSTANDING! Just happened to have a Presonus tube pre amp in our studio. Put a Groove Tube 12AX7 in it and put it in front of the Presonus Studiolive Digital Mixer on our lead channel. Sound quality is exceptional. Great sales and support from live sound at the Willowbrook store in Houston.

I am an actively gigging musician. I primarily perform at smaller venues playing acoustic guitar / singer-songwriter and acoustic covers. I recently purchased this microphone for the sake of upgrading my live gear - (the microphone that I had been using was a Blue en-CORE 200 which is a pretty respectable handheld supercardioid condenser mic.) After doing the research and reading tons of reviews relating to cardioid condenser microphones I went ahead and spent the extra money for this microphone. All and all it exceeded my expectations - as I am consistently blown away with the warm open detailed clarity - this effect was even evident through my Soundcraft Signature 10 board monitored by a pair of Alto powered speakers. I had been looking for a studio quality sound for my performances. This was the last piece of the puzzle well worth the investment.

Quality they would be roughly on the same level, as far as performance, I haven't had much experience with this, but I've heard nothing but good things from people who have used it.

I don't recommend condenser mics for hand held use as they are somewhat delicate. And you may be better off with a mic designed for volume. Please see - "Shure SM58 Dynamic Handheld Vocal Microphone"
