Pretty good light truss

This thing is pretty good. It helped me eliminate 4 light stands!!! And I have enough room for other stuff as well. I run 4 par 38's and 4 par 56's - 2 "bob" flame lights - A duel moonflower reflex laser and a 12" disco ball with a red and blue spot light on either side. Holds up well with all the extra wieght I have put on it. I also hang the bands banner off of the back of it behind the drummer. Works pretty good for us and we have beat this thing to death for about a month now. Not a bad price for what you get.

Okay, fair quality - SHIPPING was AWFUL

Scratches all over the unit. Box came in from UPS but can't tell who jacked it up, UPS or GuitarCenter. Complete disappointment. Planning on calling to see how to handle. Looks like it's been used. Fair quality, don't over tighten, I can tell already it won't last long. But as a temporary setup, but I would pay a little more money to get a little better quality if you plan on using a lot.

If you have questions about dimensions or uses for this product...read below. First and foremost....the pipe diameter of the truss and bars is 1 3/8" so, if you use o clamps like I do, make sure you get the right size. This thing gets tall, I would put it in the 9-12ft range ( depending on whether or not you use the included T bars). The truss width is about 8 1/2ft (you could probably squeeze a few more inches, but you risk sagging in the middle)...this makes it a perfect width for a dj booth, or hanging a backdrop behind a drummer. Hopefully that helps compare things with others. For the actual review of this...I'm actually pretty impressed. I wish I had purchased this instead of my old stands. All the hardware is high density plastic and all height adjustments utilize a cotter pin for security. The instructions were worthless. I suggest starting with putting the truss together first. From there it goes together pretty intuitively. The stands themselves are very stout and can be used equally well without the truss if needed. Overall, it's well worth the investment, for anyone, especially someone just starting out.

Looks great. Easy to use. Lots of bang for the buck. However, the tube size is 1 3/8" and not 1 1/2". Going to have to shim the light clamps.

  • Thumbs up!

Got at a great deal on sale. Does what its supposed to do, especially for what i paid for it. Had it out twice so far and all is great. No sagging in the middle. Lots of compliments on how my lights looked. Thumbs up!

The associates at the store are very helpful, the Truss arrived in perfect order and got help taking that huge box to the car. Actually I am going there to buy another one today.

  • Stands work good, but no parts

I am happy with the lighting stand itself. It has worked for multiple applications but I can't get parts for it. Guitar Center says they make this item in house but yet they can't provide any parts for it. It's probably a breakoff of American DJ's truss system that looks exactly the same, but not knowing for sure I didn't want to get the parts through them either. I've always had good luck ordering with Guitar Center, but this is definitely downfall for them that would be an easy fix assuming they actually make the item in house(which I doubt).

I'm a mobile dj, and i like the stand. easy set up and take down, light weight. Only draw back the nuts on the screws sometimes get lost so i would HIGHLY recommend by extras with vinyl inside that way they wont fall out. overall satisfied for the price.
