Great Starter Uke for Intermediate+ musicians
This is a concert ukulele that you can get on sale for less than $100. It is not a limited issue guitar for a professional. That being said this instrument has a lot of nice features. Nice sound: The tortoise shell back really projects for a instrument its size. I'm not a pro, but I would classify this as a warm sound for its class. There's a little bit more weight with this ukulele then some lighter concert starters, and because it's an acoustic-electric, you can hook it up to an amp. I like adding a chorus pedal now and then. It has an internal tuner which seems to work well. And the tuning pegs have a comfortable feel and work well. One thing about Mitchell: I haven't had an instrument from them yet that didn't severely scratch my hands or fingers when I slide the down the neck. They don't file/smooth the fret ends. I love the sound and price of this instrument so much that a little scratching doesn't bother me, so my recommendation is if you want to either smooth the fret ends yourself or pay 3 to 20 times more on a better instrument that may have the same or worse sound as this one.

Beautiful, but quality control issues
This ukulele looks great and sounds great. I love the arched back, metal tuners, banding, and wood quality on the fretboard, sides, and back. I felt happy every time I held it and tuned it up to practice. But there are a few build quality issues I ran into. The first one I bought had a dead tuner / pickup right out of the box. The one they replaced it with had rusty red-brown, oily residue coming out of the tuners, and a very VERY strong chemical smell. It was so strong I had to stop playing after a few minutes. Airing it out in my garage over 2 weeks with a fan blowing at it did not help. I also noticed the cedar top dents very easily. If you press firmly on it with your finger pad, it feels like paper. Pressing even gently with any harder object, such as your nail, leaves a permanent dent in the top. I've never seen this from any ukulele or guitar. I took my replacement back to Guitar Center and the guys behind the counter said I must have gotten two lemons and I could take a look through the 20 or so they had and pick one that didn't have issues. Most of these didn't have the strong chemical smell problem, but 3 of them had broken tops right out of the box. About a quarter had rusty oily residue leaking from the tuners, and several had slightly mismatched wood for the top and back, with a noticeable gap between. In light of these issues I ended up doing a straight return. I miss this ukulele a lot but they need to get their act together. Most barebones entry level ukuleles I've seen have better build quality and quality control than the mu50se. This was supposed to be a small step up, right?

Bought it for my sister. She refused play it because it constantly needs tuning and one of strings sounds horrible whenever it is fretted. Changing out the plastic tuners and adjusting the strings height cost more than the ukulele.
Bridge popped off right outside of return window.

I received this on 3/20. I've tuned it twice and haven't touched it since 3/21. It sits on a shelf away from everything and tonight (5/5) the bridge spontaneously popped off without being touched. I've owned other ukuleles and this has never happened. Extremely frustrated

My wife was in search for a ukelele and they had a big selection for us, options ranging from budget end to high quality end. Wonderful service and help was given as we are both very rusty when it comes to musical notes and instruments.
I would buy this product again
