Luna

Description

Luna's mahogany ukuleles combine the best of traditional profiles and wood selection with traditional Hawaiian body ornamentation, entwined guardian spirits, and contemporary longings. This traditional tenor uke takes its design from traditional hawaiian body ornamentation. Those designs were monochromatic, tattooed in black against brown skin, with strongly geometric patterns, and many shapes and symbols inspired by the natural island world: stones, waves, fish, sharks, turtles, rain, sun, birds. The design is primarily based on waves and sharks teeth which are also echoed as fret markers.

Nice Luna Tattoo Tenor

I have had my new Luna Tattoo Tenor Uke for just over a week, and I am very happy with the purchase. This is a high quality ukulele that is very affordable. Plus I had a discount coupon from Guitar Center, and I got a terrific price with the usual great service and fast delivery to my home in Montana. Out of the box, this tenor was very playable, slightly less than 3mm at the 12th fret with a straight neck ? easy action. Since arrival, I have kept a sponge humidifier with the tenor inside the gig bag and the Luna box. The uke seems to like this. The tone of the Tattoo is unique. There is a cool, mellow depth to the sound of this uke, especially on the midtones. Strum a little harder and there is a marked increase in projection. This is a nice instrument - the fourth tenor in my collection. I think I will take advantage of the sound of this Luna and string it as Low G. I love the Tattoo look; flawless wood finish with a black wave design that crosses my ukulele like a tsunami. I am very glad that I made this purchase at Guitar Center. GNoose

A disappointing instrument

I realize that this is not a top of the line instrument but even at it's price point it is lacking. I have fret buzz on the first fret. The frets themselves don't produce the most accurate notes. Over all it looks rather cheaply made and it sounds like it. You can do better for the money. I would go with Kala

I had to wait a bit as this hot item was out of stock from the Christmas rush. It is exceptionally well built for the price, no sharp frets, nice fit and no string buzzing working up the neck. It seems to lose tuning easily but I attribute that to breaking in the strings or the quality of the strings. It is much better after a week's use and the sound is as good as expected. The only real negative I had despite the excellent packing is that it had one tiny chip on the back edge of the body. I would think this happened prior to packing and quite possibly during the inspection process. I am very pleased with Guitar Center's service and this ukulele and would recommend it to others. I also bought the concert model for my daughter and she is quite pleased with her Luna Ukulele.
