this is the future

Before I purchased te X3 my rig consisted of a 1967 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp and a 1996 Line 6 AxSys 2/12. The X3 Live sounds outstanding, it has tons of features, easy to get the hang of, and is convenient. I can now confidently leave all my amps at home when it is time for band practice and gigs. The two amps simultaneously kick major butt, it adds another dimension to the possibilities of tonal versatility. I understand this is essentially the preamp to the Vetta II with some additions. My brother has the XT live, this definitely has more clarity than the XT, a couple hundred more presets, more outputs at higher quality, and also more amp models. It was a hard decision between the Spider Valve and the X3. The X3 won because of versatility and convenience for this working man. The tonal quality of digital modeling has finally gotten to the point where you can leave your treasured tube amp safely at home. *NOTE* In mid-January 2008, there will be a plug-in released to enable the X3 to work with Line 6 Edit, along with many other programs enabling you to record directly to your computer.

tone killer... lost the tube punch of my marshall

PROS: this is the BEST for a live performance... this thing is so versatile in so many ways i wont have enough space to write it in here... you have so much control of your sound in ONE pedal its crazy Cons: i love the sound of my marshall MA100C amp with my gibson, the clean is very nice but the distortion department needs some help... so I decided to buy this stomp pedal to get a good distortion, chorus, delay etc... so i plug this guy in(with ALL of the FX turned OFFFFFF)and it made my clean and crisp sound dissapear!!! what the heck!!! the crisp sound of my tubed amp is gone and how do you expect me add all the other FX when i have to DIGITALLY imitate the gibson/marshall sound i had? what a hassle... dont get me wrong, youll sound good and it could pass for a gig and stuff, but you can sound BETTER, this product compress so much out of your guitar/amp that it takes away the natural sound the 100+ effects were useless, youll only use like 20 of them TOPS!!! from my experience... i paid for the whole thing, but only used 1/4 of it because the rest of the FX were too cheezy and pointless, unless you get REALLY WEIRD with your music -1 star coz it took my amps soul away -1 star coz of tone (could be better for the price) +1 star coz of prize +2 stars coz of how well thought out this is built, if only other pedals were built this way

I have read many reviews on the pod x3 live when i was waiting for mine to come through the mail. took forever! lol once i got it i was busy working away on it. i was skeptical about being able to get calrity out of it when recording and playing live and trust me you don't know till you do it! to get to the point when i used the xt live the clarity was decent when pluging into an interface for recording into pro tools. the clarity from the x3 is better hands down. i tried lookin for reviews on how to get rid of that annoying fuzz sound when plugging the x3 into even a pa system. my answer to that from experimentation was to use the studio direct mode. i figured if it sounds good when plugged into pro tools through an interface it should be able to sound just as good live, and it delivered in spades. this is a great pedal regardless. too many people tell me that it sounds horrible. fact is this thing can sound bad and it can sound good. you just have to know exactly what you want out of it. i recomend using a separate multi effects pedal with this to get better tone with the distortion. i use a zoom pedal from my guitar into the x3. i used the x3's l6 treadplate which is based on the mesa boogie dual rectifier...so fuzzy! lol..then i used the 4x12 line 6 cab with the sm 57 off axis and the distortion boost with eq to get rid of the fuzz from the distortion. it sounded muffle so i fixed it up with the parametric eq. i should mention that eq comes in handy in a tight situation! my answer to anyone who has been searching for ever to get rid of that fuzz is to use the studio direct mix when plugging into a pa system for playing live or recording into a mixer or interface. i'm done with this review. hope it helped. there's nothing better than experimenting with the actual thing.

What an amazing POD. Line 6 really put everything into this. The only thing it didn't have was an acoustic simulator that most BOSS PODs have but online there are videos of how to make an acoustic sound (sounds great, use it live often). Overall the POD X3 Live has infinite tonal capabilities and is built to last. Easy to edit tones with free software downloads on Line 6 website. Great overall

Extremely responsive design. liberating convenience to have the ability for two instruments/mics. More light displays than older model make for switching tones with authority in darker environments. Endless sound combinations. Screen display very detailed and larger than previous model. "Wah" gives passionate sound. This pedal will keep one's interest in practicing/exploring lots longer. I"m deeply impressed.

I bought this so exited, I thought It was the greatest this ever. Nope. The inputs get messed up in the system. The LCD screen died after two months of me barley using it. It was complicated. Not a very good product. PLus the sounds on the website are not the truth!!! They mix them through a professional MOTU interface.
