The truth is above!

I know reviews are extremely bias but I want you all to know what you are spending your money on! I went to my local Guitar Center here in Charlotte, North Carolina with intentions of purchasing two subwoofers. I sampled every last demo sub that was available. Those included the EV ELX15, the QSC KW181, Harbinger VaRi 18in sub, the JBL EON 1000W sub, and two other subs. Stop right there! price to performance ratio, NONE OF THESE SUBS OUTPERFORMED THIS WOOFER. And when I say OUTPERFORMED, i'm talking about depth of bass, loudness, thump, accuracy, and distortion. I know that people swear by certain brands and thats all fine and dandy. However, Im not that guy. I am someone who needs the best for the money regardless of the brand. The only competitors were the EV ELX and that even bottomed out at higher volumes; in addition to the QSC which didnt bottom out but the low lows (40 hz and under) didnt sound good at all. The JBL had tons more of head room compared to the EV. Im not sure it the QSC would be worth the extra $399 just to get a pole mount and casters (wheels). BOth of which you can get for much cheaper. Yeah, with QSC you get top quality as well as with EV, JBL, YAMAHA, etc but this would be more than sufficient for the mass majority of people in the price range. The biggest negative is that the JBL has the biggest box with the EV was second and the QSC was the smallest. I hope this helps guys who were stuck like me at one point and time.

Ruined by JBL's PRX Connect App

It's embarrassing how clumsy and dysfunctional JBL's wireless speaker control apps are. These speakers are sold as professional touring gear, not for kludgy home studio networking. No other system I can think of forces you to bounce back and forth between router and speaker logins, just to adjust your speaker settings. No other system I can think of requires you to manually type in your wifi router's connection info, with no hard-wired ethernet alternative. No other system I can think of is so clueless it can't even set up your subs in mono or aux-fed configurations. And speaking of JBL's PRX800 subs, this braindead app provides NO WAY to independently adjust each sub's time-alignment or power limiting. Congratulations on sabotaging your own product, Harman-Kardon, I sent it back and bought something that actually works as advertised.

All you need to do is use the app with a tablet to get the full potential of the speaker once you do that this speaker is a monster. Thanks to Nicholas Beeson Guitar Center - Operations Manager at Oxnard cali, for charging my order from shipping to pick up, he made a lot of changes and save me the shipping cost, I'll be making more purchases In the future thanks to the great costumer service at guitar center.

This sub has absolutely powered through everything I have thrown at it. I purchased it over 5 years ago it and it has been basically bulletproof after being moved from location to location countless times. It shakes any house I've been able to use it in, and consistently delivered a great sounding very loud frequency. If this one ever gives out and finally calls it quits, I will be purchasing another the very same day.

We bought 2 prx818s for our church in switch of 2 12inch subs. The bass of the speaker goes down low and gets real deep. One problem that we solved was the gain knob. We turned the gain knob on the back of the speaker to the max volume but it wasn't sounding like it was max volume. That happened because we needed the connect app and update the firmware in the speaker so that the default volume would be increased. You need an iPad to use the app. So we did that and our sounds were sounding like good 18 inch subs!! Compared to the ekx it goes a lot deeper but doesn't punch as hard.

50Yr JBL addict. Most consistent reproduction I can find. Please fix app. Clumsy. Pairing up is a head scratcher. Preset EQ's are extraneous at best. Delay settings looked promising but, with preset distances and no stereo coupling? Non functio. Patch panels are nice. Power is clean and strong. Tell JBL to fix the app and I'll buy again.
