The JBL backpack seems to be relatively decent quality but lacks some obvious features. It lacks external loops of any kind. At least one for hanging a short speaker stand on would have made a lot of sense. I wonder if the lack of loops is because JBL was concerned they couldn't reinforce them well enough. That leads ultimately to questions about the construction and tensile strength of the backpack material although the nylon material appears to be of decent quality and the interior padding appears adequate. The straps are not well padded enough for an item of this weight and, especially given the height/length of the backpack, a waist strap should have been included for not only stability when being carried, but weight distribution. Any backpacker can tell you a waist strap is critical for taking weight off your shoulder straps when hiking down a trail and makes a shoulder strap less likely to rip away over repeated use. The zippered front pocket is nice and large in diameter but not in depth. Difficult to stuff a pedal or small modeler without a low profile into it. The bag could use a redesign that retained its positive features and incorporated some of the suggestions above. Overall I would buy it again but it is lacking some head-scratching basic features.
