Ibanez

Description

As the crown jewel of Ibanez, the Prestige line represents the passion and pride of Japanese luthiery. These guitars, produced exclusively in Japan, have earned worldwide acclaim and respect throughout the industry for their craftsmanship, quality and innovation. Combine this with the classic Ibanez RG design and you have an instrument that truly represents a cornerstone of the Ibanez legacy.

The Prestige RGR652AHBF features an ash body for sparkling highs and beefy lows with a generous heaping of sustain. A highlight of the RGR652AHBF is the incredibly fast, Super Wizard High-Performance neck— constructed of five solid pieces of maple/walnut for unrelenting stability throughout the most extreme of performances.

Developed in collaboration with Ibanez—DiMarzio, Fusion Edge pickups have been engineered to produce a powerful, distinctive tone with a crisp, cutting, high end and a tight, compressed bottom end, minus any muddy mid-range. The Gibraltar Standard II bridge is renowned for its precise intonation adjustability, playing comfort and enduring sustain. Gotoh locking machine heads help provide superior tuning stability and expedite string changes. A hardshell case is included.

Only thing I didn't like were the stock Dimarzio pickups so I swapped them for Seymour Duncan.

Purchase it last year from GC. This is my 4th guitar and first Ibanez RG. I have Fender Ultra HSS and Gibson LP (which I hate - too uncomfortable and heavy). This guitar arrived in a nice Ibanez hard case, perfectly set up to play right out of the box. After having for more than 6 months now I've grown to appreciate it and use it for hard rock and metal, although it has very nice clean tones as well. The wizard neck is different (thinner) compared to my Fender Ultra Strat HSS, which takes a bit to get use to. The finish and build quality is excellent. Fretboard is amazing. I highly recommend this guitar.

I've never shelled out more than $700 for an electric in 25 years of playing. Not until I found this. The action and intonation were perfect out of the box. The Gibraltar bridge is incredibly comfortable for palm-muting and combination of Wizard neck with an ebony fretboard is luxurious. I love the ash grain, matte finish, white binding and the reverse headstock was a great choice! The pickups sound great on a Katana MkII Head, Fender Mustang and POD 2.0. Bridge cutting enough for metal, pristine cleans from the neck pickup for jazz and fingerpicking and everything in between.

Overall the guitar is a solid buy but the stock fusion edge pickups are not very good. Kinda sucks that they would put underwhelming pickups in a prestige model guitar.
