Gretsch Guitars

Description

With a sparkling good-time sound and feel the Gretsch G9460 Dixie 6-String Banjo displays solid modern craftsmanship while authentically evoking the company's innovative banjo models of the early 20th century. Tuned like a regular guitar, it's a great crossover instrument for guitarists seeking that "Banjo" sound and also benefits from the 6th string with a deeper tone and longer sustain. It has a maple plywood rim and features a traditonal open-back "Claw-Hammer." The maple neck and fingerboard feature dot inlays for precise fingering. This Dixie 6-String Banjo is a splendid Southern surfeit of outstanding sound, performance and value for established artist, seasoned player and eager student alike.

Gretsch is proud to take players on a musical journey through nearly a century of great Gretsch history by introducing its Roots Collection of acoustic instruments. This exciting family of banjos, mandolins, resonator guitars, ukuleles and Rancher acoustic guitars feature classically authentic Gretsch designs that transport players to a bygone era well before the company made its acclaimed 1950s entry into the electric guitar world.

Well, I got this as an open box purchase. You'd think I'd know better, right? For the money, it's something fun to play around with and maybe use as an arrangement layer on a track. I'm sure it came from the Gretsch factory just fine. However, it was an open box, but not set up and it was missing one of the nuts that hold the hooks down. I'm just going to assume someone "borrowed" one at the warehouse. Nice. Well, I guess that's worth the 40 bucks off.

Set-up good out of the box, stays in tune after broken in. Good authentic, old-time look and feel, nice tone. The case offered is a sloppy fit. I would buy this again.
