Gretsch Drums Renown Series Maple 5-Piece Shell Pack Natural Walnut Fade

Description
Gretsch still uses the proven and unique Renown formula that combines North American rock maple with a slightly softer maple species. Each drum is expertly completed with smooth 30-degree bearing edges and Gretsch's exclusive Silver Sealer interior finish.
Heavy-duty Gretsch die-cast hoops are fitted to all tom and snare shells and classic Gretsch lugs adorn each drum. This Gretsch-engineered shell/hoop combination produces explosive attack and power that is rich with warm, low-end timbre. The updated round, two-toned badge features gleaming silver artwork embossed over a black nickel background.
Snare, cymbals and hardware sold separately.

Awesome Kit

Purchased this from GC when Hurricane Michael (Oct 2018) took my garage/studio, all three kits, my arsenal of snares and most of our equipment. I was familiar with Gretsch and had a standard Catalina that I thought was decent but bought this particular kit because it was "discontinued" and priced right for the level. Also it had a wood snare (I prefer wood). I was blown away. Seriously the difference is amazing. I changed the heads as I always do, I never use the factory heads, and took it to task. G2s on toms, super kick on bass and genera on snare is what I've settled on so far. In the year and a half since it has been in small clubs w/no mics, in studios, on larger outdoor stages and I am pleased. The snare is great, the kit is warm and has a huge presence, I have no complaints. I was surprised that it had a tom holder in the bass drum and thought that would be a detractor but turned into a blessing itself. I run my toms to the side of the bass drum on a rack and didn't need nor want the bass drum tom holder but then realized it's usefulness. I set up for a studio session but didn't need the full rig so set up a 4 piece w/o rack. Now I use that configuration in smaller venues. Go figure. One point of clarification, my kit did not come with die cast hoops as specified in the description but the 302 series hoops so yeah. The renown series is a very good kit.
Followup to 76017

Follow up to 76017. 9x13 Tom finally did come in. Was packed very well in the box. Tunes nicely. Was a great addition to the kit. Gigs well. Great color. I swapped out the Remo heads for Evans EC2S Frosted batter. That was a good choice. Using DW Tom clamp on stand. Holds better than the Gretsch clamp does. Ball doesn't slip.
Great if you buy off the floor

Great kit if you buy off the floor. Good quality & good price. Hardware is solid, heads sound good. I ordered matching 9x13 rack tom back in June 2017, not here yet. I had to do my own follow up to work with a manager to find that wrong item was ordered. Manager did respond. Still waiting for follow up about the rack tom. Don't know when to expect it.

Wondering about the drum thickness ? And how this set stacks up to the Brooklyn or us a series ?Overall sounds like it's as close to the kits mentioned ! Do you have any used kits , of this particular series ?
It's 7 ply, and the size is kind of hard to find since it varies slightly. It's .5" to .75"
