We got ours 4 weeks ago, and I love this thing. Recorded sound quality is supurb. The transfer to PC through USB is quick for editing. For the price, this is a good deal. Being able to record all members of our band simeultaneously on independant channels was our next step from being a jam band to a band with album burning potential. If you decide to get serious with your band, you need a multitracker, and the MR-16 is a great choice as long as you only have 4 members. The only reason I scored this 4 instead of 5 is for lack of independant channel outputs. Because of this, we have to split each input before the recorder to the amplifiers, or take noisy amplifier outputs and run them to the recorder.
Awesome

The learning curve continues - only because there are so many features on this baby! The on-board effects are sufficient although I pre-engage most all mine prior to recording. There is a aux that allows you to put your limiter/compressor in line that is very unique. (I read another review that stated he had to put his 1/4" cable in part of the way. This is the jack for the limiter which is a stereo "in." It also receives back through this same plug - easy mistake to make unless you read the manual.) All the slides are positioned with the perfect spacing for ease of mastering. The trims are sensitive and there is plenty of power to deliver the signal from the weakest source. The built in Mic and amp simulation are something else. The guitar distortion is amazing. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to add some "EQ" prior to mastering. You can add effect through the 4 built in effects, but then again - I'm still learning all of its capabilities so I think I'll hold back the judgement on this one. The last great thing about this is how you can load your songs out to a CD-R or computer. My CD-R unit was backordered so I had to send the songs to my PC. Mastering is so simple! Creating the song to a .wav file was incredibly easy. Sending it to my computer via USB cable took all of 8 seconds and it opened its own window on my PC. This is the bomb! I've been recording for over 25 years . . . I'll soon be 60 years old. This dog can hunt!

when i got it i expected it to work but the 1/4" plug in wouldn't work unless i had the 1/4" plug pulled out slightly i sent it back and am waiting for guitar centers to resend me my item it may be a defect by that one item but i am still unhappy with the play back sound i may send it a back and invest in a computer program like pro tools but i don't like midi interface so i will have to find something to my liking FALL
