Best price, incredible guitar, just as good as Fender's American made counterparts!
Found the lowest price at another online nusic outlet and Guitar Center matched it without debate. Being a long-time musician playing in a successful casual band, I was a little hesitant about buying anything less than an American-made Fender product. I had been playing the same P-Bass that I bought new in 1972 and because of its value and collectibility, I decided to put the old girl to rest rather than continue to use it on the road. Today's music requires a bass guitar that can emulate a variety of sounds, so I made the decision to buy a Fender Jazz Bass that could provide a wider spectrum of sounds in the music that my band plays, which ranges from the 70's to today's top 40 hits. The new Fender Geddy Lee Jazz basses are built in Mexico. Not America, not Japan. I figured for a reissue Fender guitar built in Mexico, how much could I expect? My expectations were certainly not high considering the fact that an American made Jazz Bass was at least $1,5000 or more. I came home, pulled out the guitar and within the first two minutes, it simply blew me away. I am 60-years-old musician and I've played in cover bands since 1966. I own 10 guitars, all Amercian made. Telecasters, Stratocasters, Les Paul, P-Bass, 5 string Jazz bass, Ricky 12 string, etc. etc. blah, blah, blah. This guitar is right up there with the best of them. The Geddy Lee Jazz Bass that I bought played perfectly right out of the box. No set-up was needed. It weighs just as much as an American Jazz Bass: Heavy wood, full of tone with tons of sustain and volume. The quality was unmatched in every respect. It plays like a dream with the thin neck, maple fretboard and the finish is spot-on. The hardware is just as good as the rest of the Fender product line. Fender has come a long way in improving the quality of it's reissue products, and this Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is proof of that. Usually one looks past any imperfections if the rest of the guitar is satisfactory in other respects, but this guitar was impressive without any imperfections. The guitar is great, but so was the service that I got from the sales staff at the Sherman Oaks Guitar Center. The guitar needed to be ordered because I wanted the 3-tone sunburst finish. The salesman said it would be about a week to get it because I ordered it just before the Holiday weekend. The guitar was in the store four days later. I got the conformation on my order directly from Fender one hour after I left the store. Four days later I got an email that the guitar had arrived at the store. TWO MINUTES after I got the email, the salesman called to say the guitar was there. Imagine that in today's world: A high quality guitar sold at an extremely reasonable price by a music store with service that is unsurpassed. Certainly a rarity in today's business would. Maybe that's why I have been buying my gear from the Guitar Center since the early 1970's. Cone to think of it, I bought my 1972 P-Bass from the Guitar Center!

So much good except it doesn't want to stay in tune!! I will change strings to see if that helps but that really shouldn't matter!!

I'm a jazz bass guy and know what I like in a bass. I have USA ultra 5, MIM jazz, Tony Franklin Fretless, (which is precision with a jazz pickup in back), as well as other decent fender basses. I bought the Geddy because that's the sound I'm usually after. The classic 70s vibe appeals to me , as I started playing bass in 72'. Guitar player site said "in stock, ready to ship" so I placed my order. A day or so later I got email saying they don't have any in stock but have a "floor model " ..brand new but no original packaging with it. I reluctantly said ok after getting 10% discount. The bass came and I opened it in my local GC store. It was in gig bag and in a box. Pulled it out and there handprints and smudges all over it. They made NO effort to clean it up ahead of time. The sides of the neck are very rough from frets not being filed down properly. Action was pretty high but playable. The bass looks good tho and sounds great. So I give Fender a 4 out of 5 ..and GC a 4 out of 5 for poor customer care and false advertising.
I love mine

It's the most comfortable bass I ever played. It's sound is super versatile and I wouldn't buy any other bass over this one.

This bass...what a great instrument. I'm still pulling tones out of the monster. It does everything I want and more. I have been working my way up to this bass for some time. I have 5 electric and 1 acoustic/electric. It's becoming difficult to pick one to play with this new addition to my collection. It's sooooo good!

This bass is awesome, came setup great right out of the box. I literally took it out of the box and tuned it up and rehearsed with my band with it. It sounds awesome and the quality is very good.
