Open Box Fender Bassman 800 Hybrid 800W Bass Amp Head Level 1 Black

Used for a small performance shortly after getting it. Had no trouble filling the auditorium I was in, but also just fine in my home.

Just got this in from Musicians Friend and it checks all the marks I was hoping for! It's easy to dial in the tone you want and it cranks out the power thru my Fender 6x10 cab! I also own a Super Bassman 300 and purchased the 800 for a back up, but have been using the 800 every time we play. Some reviews mentioned that the peak light stayed on while playing, but I haven't had that with this head (I guess Fender fixed that problem).

This head is super great!! I have had the all tube bassman 300 for about 15 years and the 800 sound just as good if not better. Obviously the weight difference was the major factor in buying the bassman 800. While also having the look and feel of a classic tube head. For me I just can't get into the super small fit in your backpack heads. So the bassman 800 is really something that you would want to stand in front of. That being said I have 3 different cab combinations I use. One 410 that lives in my rehearsal studio. One 15 and 210 together, and an 810 cabinet. So depending on the venue size and load in opinions will dictate the cabs I use. I try the use the 810 when I can about 50% of the shows. The bassman 800 with an 810 cab is a match made in heaven. For me personal you don't have to play to destroy everyone's eardrums, but's it's nice to have that felling behind you. Plus in rock the drums are loud and powerful, or at least they should be, and nothing better than the old fridge to even the score. The Di is great and much improved from my other head (bassman 300}. This model has an adjustable volume for the DI with the normal pre and post options. The Di is also tube driven, giving the front of house a nice warm signal. What I'm really loving about this amp is the tone seems just a little tighter than my all tube bassman 300. The 800 is super punchy without having that plastic fake tone. I also find myself using the overdrive on the amp over my two overdrive pedals on my board. Honestly makes think over going with a tuner and the foot switch only... So really the test is going to be how will this head stand up to playing every weekend. At least with my all tube bassman 300 can almost always be repaired,like an old muscle car. This bassman 800 is like a Tesla, freaking awesome but hope battery doesn't run out on your family trip up north. Anyway time will tell, till then this amp is awesome!! Loving it

There aren't many reviews on this amp. Hopefully this will help those deciding on choosing this head. Have not played in a large venues but having upgraded from:Kustom 250 tuck and roll. 2) Acoustic B600HD. This amp has what I feel will fill most needs. 2 channels available. I'm playing thru a modified Epiphone T-bird w/HipShot bridge, and Schecter Studio 4 bass. (Both passive pups). Haven't spent much time on the "overdrive" channel, played around with it, but I get what I'm looking for from the "vintage" setting. I don't use pedals, just adjust my sound thru my basses and amp settings. This amp has what it takes to stand up to whatever is out there. I can't imagine needing more without running thru FOH. Three band EQ plus bass settings will give your personal sound exactly what you're looking for. Using w/ Fender bassman NEO 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. Beautiful to look at (and play thru). Anything more would just be different...NOT better.

I was looking for a powerful head with a lot of tone options that didn't weigh a lot. I have always liked Fender products so I took a chance on the Bassman 800, since I couldn't try it out at the store. I was very pleased with the result. I am playing a Fender Jazz 5 string with active EQ and using a Mark bass 104HR cabinet. The combination is exactly what I was hoping for. LOTS of power and the ability to get the warmth I wanted out of the tone choices. I am using the overdrive channel, although I am not using it for the overdrive, I just like the tone options on this channel better than the vintage channel. I used the direct out into the PA and it was very clean and sounded great.

I bought this amp head primarily based on a review I read from a customer who also purchased this from Guitar Center, since I couldn't find one locally to actually play through. This is an awesome amp with the classic Fender blackface look and vintage vibe. It's very easy to dial in any sound and it looks like a real amp head. It's listed weight is 17 lbs., yet feels so much lighter and it sounds very much like its sibling Pro 100T and Super Bassman Pro 300 all tube amp heads. This amp shares the same tube preamp with the 100T and Super Bassman. The Bassman 800 Hybrid is rated at 800 watts @ 4 ohms, 500 watts @ 8 ohms. I too have it paired with the Fender Pro 410 Neo cab and in my opinion it's definitely a match made in heaven. This combination provides that familiar Fender clean vintage tone with plenty of headroom to spare. It can not only be heard but you can feel the notes and it can go crazy LOUD! My search for a powerful clean tone is over. It also does that tube overdrive sound when I need it. I have always been a big fan of that Fender tube sound, having had an early '64 Bassman. Now I can get that powerful clean vintage Fender tone in an amp head that is only 17 lbs., and it looks like a Bassman should. My Fender Jazz Bass has never sounded so good. The Fender Bassman 800 Hybrid and the Pro 410 Neo cab are enough to handle any gig, large or small, with or without P.A. support and it sounds and looks pro with a very cool presence on stage. I'm also going to add a Pro 115 Neo cab for those larger gigs, or when I need that bigger bottom end. If you are in the market for a new or replacement amp head, or if you're considering the Fender Pro 100T or Super Bassman Pro 300 all tube bass amps, do yourself a favor and give this amp a try. You just might do as I did. I wanted that all tube sound without the big price tag and the 68 lb.weight - now I have it.
