  • The long-awaited pedal for 80's/90's Van Halen fans

I'll preface this by saying that I probably don't use this pedal to its full potential. I really use it for one thing, and that's to emulate Eddie Van Halen's guitar sound from the mid 80's to the 90's. It is well known that EVH used an Eventide H910 rack unit for his signature "wet" sound, but until now it has been difficult to get that sound from Eventide on a budget. While this pedal does a lot less than many of Eventide's more "complete" multi-effects units, it does exactly what I want it to do. If you're not familiar with Eventide, you should know that this "delay" pedal doesn't just simply provide a delay effect. Part of the allure of Eventide is the aforementioned "wet" sound, which is very similar to a chorus but is still distinct. I prefer it to standard chorus effects, which is why I bought this. It sounds good enough in mono, but it is designed to be used in stereo much like EVH and others used their Eventide units, so you probably won't get the full potential of the sound unless you use it in stereo. I should also note that I'm a bit of a novice at pedals, and this one is a bit complicated, so it may take some time to learn how it works. I'm also not a fan of how it will always have some lights illuminated even when it's inactive, but that's a minor annoyance. It is very well made and even the knobs are metal, which is a nice touch I didn't expect. Overall, I'd recommend it if you want something a little more interesting than a bare-bones delay, and I'd especially recommend it if you want that 80's-90's Van Halen sound.

Surprised at how good it sounded just in the effect loop of my Marshall JVM. It sounded like it really added a lot of dimension to the tone. When I ran the stereo b output to another amps effect loop in, it was definitely mind blowing. Also received the rebate from Eventide... Anyone of their plugins for the corresponding pedals. I chose the plugin for micro pitch. Absolutely excellent!!!
