The Epiphone AJ-220SCE

The Epiphone AJ-220SCE

Epiphone

Description

From Epiphone comes the beautiful entry-level acoustic-electric guitar, priced for anyone to afford. Dressed in a beautiful finish, and featuring appointments you'd often find on higher-end instruments, the Epiphone J-45 EC Studio guitar sounds just as good as it looks. Built on advanced jumbo body design, the depth of the body and the width of the shoulders create a large sound chamber, presenting tone that's full, deep, and loud. The cutaway guitar body design provides comfort when accessing the upper-register frets on the rosewood fretboard.

The Epiphone J-45 EC Studio guitar's mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top brings out rich harmonics, lots of projection, and clarity in tone. A Titebond-glued neck joint keeps the guitar's neck and body stable, without losing any subtleties in tone. The mahogany neck adds strength, as the wood is quite durable and will stand up to the elements. The acoustic-electric guitar's rosewood bridge and fretboard produces lasting sustain, in a deep appearance.

The SlimTaper C-shape neck and 12" radius add speed and comfort to your playing, while lessening player exhaustion. The Epiphone guitar's ebony fretboard, rosewood bridge, and bone nut produce some of the clearest tone possible, so you can hear your notes with crystal clarity.

At the heart of this Epiphone acoustic-electric guitar is the integrated Fishman Presys II preamp and Sonicore pickup system, letting you plug in and amplify quickly and painlessly. The Fishman preamp system features controls for master volume, treble and bass EQ, a tuner/phase button and a built-in chromatic tuner. Also included is a separate battery box.

Dressed in a polyurethane finish and featuring such desirable appointments as sealed die-cast tuners and nickel hardware, you will love the look of this Epiphone guitar as much as its sound. Built under the expertise of Epiphone's master craftsmen, the J-45 EC Studio acoustic-electric guitar will sound excellent for a very long time. And at this price, you can't go wrong.

great sound great price

I fell in love with this guitar the minute I laid eyes on it. I tested it out and it's perfect. The price is so affordable and it plays like a dream. I've owned this guitar for about a year now. Never gets out of tune, built in tuner which is very convienient and it sounds beautiful plugged into an amp. My most favorite guitar I've ever owned. I recommend this guitar to anyone, easy to play and can't beat the price. Not only does it play well, its so sleek and doesn't scratch easily. The sunburst is just fabulous. It's so affordable it's almost "too good to be true" but frankly it's just a great guitar at a great price. Couldn't be happier with Epiphone, I just think their a great brand for those who can't afford a Gibson.

There are better choises

This guitar looks and sounds good... at least in the store. The tuner works very well and its easy to use. It has very low action and its easy to play. Fret board has a great soft feel. After a few days, because of the super low action is started to buzz a lot. And theres another review saying the same thing. I had it adjusted but it didnt sound the same anymore. With the same money you can get a Fender 140SCE or a Ibanez PF30SECE which have a even better sound. After two weeks I went and exchanged it for a Fender DG200SCE, a little more expensive but well worth it. Bottom line, the guitars feels great but I had a lot of open string buzz so I had to exchange it. There are other guitars in this price range that are better.

Like many instruments, you can play 5 of the same model and they are all different. I found this gem after playing 15 or so guitars. This one has superb fret work, straight neck, (someone in Indonesia put love in this one!) Nice knock-off Grovers make drop D a breeze. Tuner is not so hot, however the pickup is great, I played $2000+ Taylors, $3100 Gibson, but decided I wanted something to throw in the car and take places without worry. Satin neck has a great feel. Dovetail neck joint construction and solid spuce top for this price...amazing. I put D'addario 11s on, polished frets, and loosened the truss a tad. It has a great set-up, low action and no fret buzz. I play it through s Keeley compressor pedal and a modded VHT 12/20RT. It sounds great acoustically, but simply shimmers plugged in.

  • Beats a $2000 Gibson hands down

Love this guitar. While I'm used to all solid wood guitars and the unbeatable sound they make, this guitar sounds plenty good unplugged and terrific plugged in. It plays like a dream. And having gotten it for only two thirds of the normal price makes it that much sweeter. Thanks to Tom and Dave at the North Attleboro GC for their usual excellent help and service...
