collapse expand iconDescription

The EVH 5150III LBXII is a 15-watt guitar amp head that packs an extraordinary and powerful punch. This 2.0 version of the company's diminutive easy-to-carry "lunchbox" head features the famous Green and Blue channels, delivering sparkling clean tone and punchy gain to inspire unlimited artistic expression.

Armed with four ECC83S (12AX7) preamp and two EL84 power tubes, the LBXII also includes dual concentric gain and volume controls for precise and independent control of each channel, as well as shared EQ presence and resonance controls.

Dial in a crystal-clean tone or turn the gain up for a bluesier counterpart on the Green channel, and when you are looking to bring the house down, hit the one-button footswitch and select the Blue channel for a tight and compressed overdriven tone with sustain for days.

Bedroom players can utilize the 1/4-power switch to reduce the head to 3.5 watts and avoid disturbing the rest of the household, while studio and live musicians can leverage this same feature to turn up the head for a squeezed and spongy tone.

Boasting exceptional construction, fierce tone and distinctive style with a black control panel and white metal grille cage with iconic EVH striped motif, the LBXII is a phenomenal performing amp.

Monster tone in an affordable little package!!!

This is my first time writing a review. I'm a professional musician and guitar teacher with years of experience with high end gear. I'm a huge fan of hi gain lunchbox amps. I own an Engl ironball 20w head and a blackstar ht metal 5w head as well. This new evh head is $500 cheaper than the Engl and gives it a run for it's money! The amount of gain is incredible. Way more than you would ever need. I'm a shredder and play in an 80s metal cover band and the tone of this amp is perfect for it. It can also be dialed back for blues, classic rock and crunch tones or dialed in for the heaviest of metal settings. Fantastic tone, clarity, harmonics and fullness on the blue channel. Pinch harmonics are effortless and this thing has a great scorching lead sound. The green/ clean channel is great too and can be dialed in completely clean or get a great classic rock tone by adding in some gain. The power soak feature is very nice as well. I live in a condo and don't want to blow my neighbors away. Even with the soak it's incredibly loud. It can be played at bedroom levels, but it definetly shines when turned up. Def enough power even on the 1/4 setting to use at rehersal or a small gig. I got this on sale for memorial day, but now that I've spent time dialing this thing in, I would have gladly played full price for it! Fantastic professional tone at a price that won't break the bank.

Great sound / poor Manufacturing

Amazing sound from a small amp, unfortunately the effects Loop malfunctioned causing the amp to cut out during live performances Within 3 months of use. Very disappointed with Fender and the quality of their product.I would rather paid more for the amp and have it be of good quality. Lesson learned I guess ..good luck!

light and compact its 15 watts carries a big punch i use this head pared with a EVH 1x12 cab and it sounds amazing you can gig with this as long as your going threw a pa still at practice im not going threw a pa and its plenty loud but at a venue you will want to. you wont regret it.

  • Don't let the size fool you. This beast can roar.

This wee beastie resides in my studio exclusively, but it could definitely thrive at a club gig or larger if the cabinet has a mic. I would recommend keeping small children and pets away from it however. Even cutting the power from 15w to 3.5w, there's enough roar in the Blue Channel to cause them to explode.

If you can't get the tone that you are looking for out of this little beast....it's on you. I'm very pleased with this amplifier, it rings out modulation pedals very nicely through the effects loop, and it is tons of fun to play. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the power switch/standby is in the back of the amplifier, the volume on it seems to be out of ballance...it goes from zero to HOLY ****!!!, and the power reduction seems to lower the quality of the amplifier. I'm ran it through 2 different cabinets, a 1×12 with a Governor speaker, and 4×12 Blackstar HT Metal. They both sounded great, but the 1×12 didn't feel big enough, and the 4×12 just felt too big.."big" is the only word I have to describe it not in terms of volume. I should have learned my lesson with the first amplifier head I ever purchased...just buy the ******* cab that the head was intended for, and stop trying to bargain hunt. So I went on ahead and ordered the EVH 2×12...I should have probably done this review after I played through it, but I'm already invested. Have fun.

I spend over a month doing shoot outs at multiple GC's. I put it against Orange, Prs Tremonti TA15, Peavy, Friedman Runt, Hughes & Kettner, Randall, Fender. It was the clear winner every time. Not just by me by those in the stores listening too. VERY versatile. Oh, and I'm not a metal guy. Those who were listening loved it for that but I play classic rock and blues. The clean is much better than the older version. The clarity and chime is great with plenty of headroom. The gain is fantastic at either level. You also go from 15 to 1/4 power. Thats a much better volume than 1/2 power for most when playing at home. Takes pedals as expected. Controls are easy and all very useful to dial in any tone you are looking for. One of the best purchases I've make in sometime.
