Clutch mechanism is smooth, larger footboard is great. Heavy weight stand, 2 legs are not an issue this stand is super sturdy. Negatives are bottom cymbal seat is plastic. The first stand shipped to me was damaged and the seat was broken. DW felts are also hard as a rock. For the money these items ought be better.

DW 9000 XF hi hat stand, good but needs to be longer

it's a very good hi hat stand. The footboard is good, not great. I think it still needs to be longer. The longboard on the DW MDD hi hat is a bit longer and I would say that board needs to be ok this XF and JT would be perfect. The clutch for the isn't that good for 9000 products across the board, it's just outdated. Otherwise I'd say it's perfect...8 out of 10.
Very sturdy and great touch

I was hesitant about getting a 2-leg hi-hat stand as you hear so much about them being unsteady but DW hit the nail on the head. I play on a carpeted surface which usually has more give and "wiggle" with less sturdy hardware but that is not an issue with this stand. It holds firm and with the 2-leg design I have plenty of room for my double pedal. If you're upgrading hardware you need to have a stand like this one. The action on this stand is superb. I still have low-end hi hats but I can make them sing with this stand because you have so much control and it's very, very smooth. DW's reputation for great hardware is built on equipment like this.
