D'Angelico

Description

The D’Angelico Excel SS has asserted itself in the world of semi-hollow guitars. A 15"-wide single-cutaway, the SS is equal parts warm and punchy. Perfectly balanced Seymour Duncan 59 Humbuckers provide savory tone—including coil-tapping push/pull tone knobs for single-coil sparkle—while a slim C-shape neck profile offers maximum comfort. Other premium appointments include an ebony fingerboard for archtop articulation and remarkable sustain and a D’Angelico Shield tremolo. Deluxe hardshell case included.

This is one great guitar!! The clean tone is awesome. I'm not really into effect pedals since I am mostly just jamming at home now. But I believe we could get any sound you want it out of this guitar. The set up was perfect. Everything about this guitar was perfect right out of the box. No issues at all!! As far as looks go all I can say is killer. A natural with all the gold blended on top of it, Beautiful!!!

The SS is my second D'Angelico Excel, adding to the DH model I bought several years ago and now use primarily for playing in a jazz band. The SS is lighter and the new thinner neck makes it even easier to play. Craftsmanship on both models is outstanding.Tonally, the SS is great for playing everything from rock (all genres) to blues, country and jazz. A great instrument at a reasonable price.

Plays well & sounds great. 59 pickups are perfect for this guitar & I like the 25" fretboard scale.
