After a long time of searching for the perfect guitar this was it. It has a smooth neck no sharp frets, no headstock dive and the controls are solid. Sounds amazing clean with some reverb or some chorus or heavily distorted. Locking tuners keep this puppy in perfect tune!
Excellent guitar for rock and metal

First of all, it's gorgeous. The burl is beautiful and naturally there is huge variation in the pattern from guitar to guitar so they're all unique. It's up to you whether or not that's worth $100 over the black model. The poplar top aside, the mahogany has a nice ruddy hue, the neck maple is super light and the thick slab of ebony on the fretboard is super dark, so overall the contrasting woods make for a visually striking and premium feeling build. They say the woods are finished, but it doesn't really seem that way to me. The whole thing feels raw and sanded to an ultra smooth finish. Then there are the black direct mount pickups and all the black hardware, including the two black American standard style string trees that look great on the Fender headstock. It all lends itself to a sense of synergy and purpose that not all guitars are able to capture. Also, since these are made by Fender in Fender's Mexican factory, the build and material quality is excellent. As far as playability, it's second to none. The satin, low friction, tight grained maple neck and rolled fretboard combine to make this an ultra fast and easy playing guitar. The fret edges are smooth and comfortable and the highly trimmed down body makes accessing the upper frets a breeze. Plus the whole thing is extremely lightweight, like 6.5 pounds, so when you're sitting down playing it, it becomes one with you. The pickups sound tight and articulate and sound great clean or with any amount of gain. The no load tone provides a lot of bite and searing highs for soloing and it doesn't get muddy when you roll it back. It required a little bit of a setup out of the box, like intonation, getting the neck pickup aligned, and sliding the saddles over to center the strings on the neck, but the neck itself was perfect and so was the action. Personally, this is my favorite guitar I've ever owned, for the way it sounds, looks, and especially the way it plays. I would not hesitate to buy another Charvel No regrets at all.
Had to return twice due to poor quality

Firstly, it's a beautiful guitar and the feel was mostly incredible. Extremely fast neck and light weight. Took it in for a setup due to bad fret buzz, more than 7 frets had major height issues. Returned and exchanged for another, the truss rod snapped while the tech made a very minor adjustment. Such a shame that the price tag on these is over $1k considering the horrible QC and craftsmanship. This has turned me off of Charvel probably forever. Buyer beware.

I notice on your page it's says the body is alder but on every other site including charvel's it states it is a mahongony body with burl top. Did you guys get a special run of them? Or is it miss printed?
I’m apologize for the confusion. It's mahogany. Thank you for pointing that out. I will pass it on to our web team.submitted3 years ago

I received your mailer today with the 15% coupon on $199 or more. Read the fine print and didn't see the charvel brand listed in the exclusions. Would this be able to be applied to the purchase of this guitar?

Hello, I understand that the weight of guitars vary. I've seen this type weigh in the 7lb range as well as 9 lb range. If I order, would I be able to know how much it will weigh before it shows up at my door? I'm looking for as light as possible. Thanks, Carie
Unfortunately, no.
