First Look: The Privia PX-S7000 Digital Piano from Casio

Description
The Casio Privia PX-S7000 digital piano redefines elegance and performance, delivering a sophisticated centerpiece for your home or studio. Combining cutting-edge technology with a minimalist design, this instrument offers the perfect blend of style and substance. Its Smart Hybrid Hammer Action keys provide an authentic acoustic piano feel, while the Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR Sound Source delivers breathtakingly realistic tones. Featuring a striking modern design available in multiple finishes, the PX-S7000 seamlessly integrates into your living space, offering exceptional sound and playability from every angle.
Casio Privia PX's Smart Hybrid Hammer Action for Authentic Feel
The PX-S7000's Smart Hybrid Hammer Action keys provide a natural and dynamic response, replicating the feel of a concert grand piano. With spruce key sides and subtle textures, these keys offer a confidence-inspiring tactile experience. Counterweights and damping mechanisms enhance precision and control, creating a quiet yet expressive playing experience. This advanced design ensures that each key responds dynamically to your touch, capturing the nuances of your performance with remarkable accuracy.
Concert-Grade Piano Tones With AiR Technology
Casio's Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR Sound Source powers the PX-S7000, delivering the authentic sound of three world-renowned pianos—Berlin, Hamburg and New York. Each tone captures the unique personality of these iconic instruments, complete with damper, string and aliquot resonance. Additional tones include 50 electric piano presets and 400 built-in sounds, allowing players to explore a range of classic and contemporary styles. Onboard DSP effects further enhance the soundscape, inspiring creativity with every note.
Elegant Casio Privia Design With Intuitive Controls
The PX-S7000's design blends simplicity with innovation, offering a sleek top panel that features illuminated touch sensor controls and a color-changing pitch bend wheel. A touch ring provides easy navigation, complemented by a backlit display for quick access to settings. Four multi-function buttons allow players to customize their sound and performance setup effortlessly. When not in use, the matching fabric cover protects the instrument, maintaining its visual appeal for years to come.
Premium Craftsmanship and Durability
Every detail of the PX-S7000 reflects Casio's commitment to quality and durability. Its wooden stand features a modern aesthetic that enhances its visual presence, while the three integrated pedals provide reliable performance and a seamless playing experience. The piano's robust construction ensures long-lasting stability, making it an investment that will endure through years of practice and performance. This combination of craftsmanship and design ensures the PX-S7000 remains a centerpiece in your home or studio.

Stellar Keyboard

It's hard to imagine spending thousands on a high end digital keyboard, then relying on it's small built-in speakers, then complaining in a review that the small speakers don't sound like a real grand piano. Maybe people just don't understand basic concepts. This instrument has MIDI over USB, just like most hundred dollar keyboards. It also has little speakers for convenience. Don't expect to be using them at Madison Square Garden. Unless you (brilliant idea) take the line out and plug it into a good PA system! When you do that, the keyboard is faultless. Very high quality samples built-in. It's probably the best sounding keyboard I've ever owned! Not only are the two main grand pianos outstanding, but the organs and various other sounds are 1000% top notch. You can pay thousands, but until you hook it up to a real speaker you'll never know how it sounds. That's a shame! If this happens, try to resist the urge to tell everyone the keyboard doesn't sound good, because that is not true! This is an amazing instrument. If you're confused about how to use it, or don't own a GOOD PA, I'd recommend also buying one of the well-known keyboard speakers available. These are also marketed as electronic drum speakers, and some are very well made. If you want top of the line to accommodate this amazing keyboard, try QSC - just a single PA monitor. If you're still not convinced after hooking up a GOOD speaker, then you've clearly aimed the speaker away from yourself so you won't be able to hear the high frequencies very well. If this happens, return all gear and find a new hobby! Good luck!
Needs external audio monitors to truly enjoy the sound.

Great tactile feel. Great overall sound (with headphones) Not satisfied with the speakers.. they are ok, I find myself raising the brilliance to max and using the stereo sound option but even then I would give the sound a 5 out of 10. With the headphones the sound does sound infinitely better.
This doesn't sound like a real piano!

They make this piano sound so good...I have owned a Privia PX-850 for 8 plus years and the piano sounds are very realistic and full...its hard to tell that it is not a real acoustic grand piano...I just received my new PX-S7000 and am so disappointed in the thinness and muffled overtones in ALL of the piano samplings (through the internal speakers)...The other samplings sound correct (organs, EP's, midi instruments) as do the demo songs (all 3 of them!-even my $1000 PX-850 had 60 songs). I have tried all of the positions variations for sound and none of them improved this condition. It just does NOT sound like a real piano...not sure what the problem may be or if that is the way it is supposed to sound...If so, it is disappointing...When I recorded a song and sent it from the internal storage into my DAW, it sounds great but through the built-in internal speakers it has too much stereo separation, even with the surround effect turned off.
The Perfect Digital Piano for Home

I bought the Casio Privia PX-S7000 about two weeks ago, and it's been an awesome addition to my apartment practice space. The piano and stand are packaged really well, and the assembly instructions are very easy to follow. The stand, pedal assembly, and piano itself are sturdy, so I expect it will last quite a long time, even with daily use and occasional transporting to jam with friends. I don't think anything about this digital piano is exception on it's own - the key action is good but there are manufacturers that have much better actions, the piano samples are good but there are more authentic simulations of a real grand piano out there, and I'm finding that the dynamics when you play with a soft of heavy touch are a little exaggerated compared to a real piano. However I think it's better to rate this digital piano as an overall product. Most portable pianos in this category look totally utilitarian, since they're design for stage use where the aesthetics don't matter as much. But this piano looks like it belongs in a home, and I don't have any qualms about putting it in my living room. I also own a stage piano (won't mention specific model here), but it is a rats nest of cables running between the pedals and studio monitors, and doesn't really look nice. All this to say, there are other pianos out there that do a better job in individual categories, but this piano is stellar as a stay-at-home practice and recording hub. Oh, and the Rhodes samples are phenomenal.
Everything I Have Been Looking for in a Digital Piano

I bought the PX-S7000 two weeks ago as an upgrade to my PX-S1100, and I regret nothing. Both are fantastic digital pianos, and I recommend the s1100 to anyone who wants a top-notch instrument for under a thousand dollars. But if you have a little more cash on hand, then it is definitely worth splurging for the S7000. Here are the main reasons I upgraded. KEY ACTION The action of the S1100 was fine, but at times I would get sloppy while playing fast passages. I knew the problem wasn't with me since I could play those same passages perfectly on my acoustic piano. That isn't the issue with my PX-S7000. It feels just like my acoustic. In fact, it feels better. Now it's the other way around: there are songs I can play perfectly on it that I struggle with on my acoustic. I don't know how they did it. The keys still have a short pivot length like the S1100, but they feel completely different. Perhaps it's the integration of wood. The keys feel solid—not heavy, but solid. They're not light and springy like the S1100. They are also much quieter. With the volume at medium level, I can't hear the keys at all (by contrast, with the volume at full level on the S1100, I could still hear the keys—it drove me nuts!) I am at peace now. When I make a mistake or struggle with a song, I know it's because of my skill level and not because the action is holding me back. TONES The S1100 and S3100 have phenomenal tones. The default grand piano on each is excellent. But the S7000 is in another league. The 3 default grands are so beautiful. And there are dozens of other pianos and e-pianos and organs and hundreds of other instruments I'll probably never use—but they all sound amazing. If nothing else, buy it just for those three grand pianos. SPEAKERS In this price range, there are a lot of pianos with bigger and better speakers. But the four speakers are definitely an upgrade from previous Privia models. The sound is full and crisp and lovely. It's as loud and full as my acoustic upright. It can't compete, though, with a grand piano. But I have no complaints. For jamming at home or playing songs for my family, the speakers are fantastic. (There are times when I forget I am playing a digital piano—that never happened with my S1100.) STYLE AND BUILD QUALITY The S7000 is gorgeous! It matches the furniture in our home and looks like it belongs there. I liked my red S1100, but it gave off a dorm-room vibe with the black metal stand and wires strewn about. The stand that the S7000 comes with is ridiculously stable. It doesn't budge a millimeter when playing. The integrated pedals are also excellent. They are longer than the triple-pedal unit on my S1100, and I never have to worry about them sliding around. The "soft" pedal is also more responsive. CONCLUSION This piano does a bit of everything, and it does it well. The key action is phenomenal, the tones are gorgeous, the piano is stylish and solid and beautiful. There's a lot more to it than what I have reviewed, such as MIDI controls and connectivity and customization. So be sure to read other reviews if those are your priorities. I simply wanted a beautiful piano that felt and sounded as good as an acoustic. Casio nailed it with the PX-S7000. (Note: I purchased my PX-S7000 directly from Casio only because Guitar Center didn't have them in stock yet, otherwise I would have bought it here!)

Does the S7000 come off the stand easily for gigging? Will it fit into the standard Casio gig bag I have for my S1100 and will the S1100 fit on the stand if I wanted to switch them?
Yes, the Casio Privia PX-S7000 is designed to detach from its stand, making it suitable for gigging. The piano itself weighs approximately 32.6 lbs (14.8 kg), and the stand adds additional weight. The stand is attached using screws and can be removed by unscrewing them, allowing you to transport the keyboard separately. pianodreamers.com Regarding the gig bag, the PX-S7000 measures approximately 52.8" (W) x 9.5" (D) x 4" (H). If your Casio gig bag for the PX-S1100 accommodates these dimensions, the PX-S7000 should fit. However, it's important to note that the PX-S7000 is slightly larger and heavier than the PX-S1100, which measures approximately 52" (W) x 9.1" (D) x 4" (H) and weighs about 24.7 lbs (11.2 kg). Therefore, while the PX-S7000 may fit into the gig bag, it might be a snug fit, and the added weight should be considered for transport. pianodreamers.com As for using the PX-S1100 on the PX-S7000's stand, it is possible. The PX-S1100 is slightly smaller in width and depth, so it should physically fit on the stand. However, since the stand is specifically designed for the PX-S7000, there may be slight differences in alignment or stability. It's advisable to ensure that the PX-S1100 is securely positioned on the stand before use.submitteda year ago
