after toying around with many other mic setups, and thinking I was going with a differnt setup, a friend loaned me his set of CAD Premiums and i was mystified as to how such an afforadble set could be so easy to set up, dial in and use in a road band environment. I am extremely satisfied, no strike that, amazed at their durablity and the sound quality/pickup is outright awsome. If your looking for a set of mics that wont let you down, and will make all of your licks come right out and grab your audiance, then give these a shot, YOU will NOt be dissapointed.

Not a bad mic kit, but there's room for improvement.
I was excited to receive this mic kit after reading all the good reviews, then was a little disappointed when I put them on my drum set. Starting with the mount clips; although made well, the angle is wrong. They come straight up off the rim at 90 degrees causing the mic to have to be pointed to the tom edge (on smaller rack toms) in order to be out of the way. Otherwise it'll be sticking out towards the middle of the drum head.(I ended up buying different ones)They'd be perfect built at a 45 degree angle. The KBM412 kick mic was the biggest disappointment. If you're looking for 50's/60's style sound where the kick isn't prominent, then it's ok at best. It lacks the power and punch required for modern music. No mids or high end at all. (I ended up buying a Shure Beta 52a) The TSM411 tom/snare mics are actually pretty good. Great response and really capture the attack of the drum. A good mic for the money, as well as the 2 ICM 417 overheads. They do a good job of capturing the ambient sound. I also added a CAD GXL1200BP condenser mic to my high hats. It's a great mic at $80. Through my Peavey PV14 mixer it all sounds great. All in all, a decent, inexpensive mic kit. Just add a good kick mic and you're good to go.

All good except one of the condenser mics relays a real staticky sound. Tried everything and still static and fuzz sounds come out. Gee thanks CAD for more hassles.

Wow! These mics are well packaged in their own case, complete with form fitted foam to keep them safe when gigging. The over head condenser mics are great for recording acoustic guitars too. I am very impressed with the quality of the recordings I am getting from the tom/snare/kick mics. The mounting brackets are great. I saw some reviews that did not like the setup but I found the brackets easy to use.

I bought these mics on sale for live use. Great sound in small to medium bar/clubs so far, especially for the price. Not sure I would use these for serious studio recordings and I have not tried to. The padded case that is included is nice. Warning, the mounts are terrible. I would give this pack 5 stars except for the mount clips. They do not have any flexibility and put the mics in the way of where you hit the head. I was only able to get by using one of the included mounts on a floor tom, and had to purchase different mount clips for the rest of the drums. But I think you still come out ahead with this mic pack.
Great for the working drummer

I bought these two years ago and felt it was appropriate to write a legit review. These mics are very dependable and durable. They have been hit, had beer spilled on them and dropped and I still get thumbs up from FOH engineers. The tom mics are a "little" big but they work ok. You can buy some expensive mics but why??? These mics are for the working drummer! Buy today!!!
