Description

This is the reissue of a legend—the BOSS DM-2W Delay Waza Craft analog delay effects pedal. Ever since being discontinued in 1984, the DM-2 has remained an object of desire for its warm, organic delay tone. Now, thanks to Waza Craft, this coveted classic is back and better than ever. Using 100-percent analog circuitry, the DM-2W's Standard mode provides the lush, 20–300 millisecond delay range that made the original DM-2 famous. Flipping into Custom mode instantly changes the tone to a cleaner analog sound with over double the delay time.

Analog Heart, Modern Soul

While the DM-2W keeps the all-analog signal path that shaped the DM-2's signature sound, it also adds greater versatility for today's players. In Standard mode, the DM-2W nails the rich, bucket brigade-style echo of its predecessor. For a cleaner tone with over 600 milliseconds of delay, simply toggle to Custom mode. With two switchable modes and greater delay range, the DM-2W is a perfect pairing of retro-cool vibe and modern flexibility.

Delay for Any Musical Style

Whether you play rock, blues, country or any other genre, the DM-2W is a musical Swiss Army knife. Dial in a short slapback echo for a rockabilly vibe, medium delay for a classic rock lead or long repeats for ambient soundscapes. With simple knobs for Delay Time, Repeat Rate and Echo, sculpting your perfect delay tone is fast and intuitive. The DM-2W's warm, organic sound also pairs beautifully with reverb, chorus, tremolo and other time-based effects.

Road-Ready and Built to Last

Like all BOSS pedals, the DM-2W Delay is ruggedly constructed for life on the road. Its durable metal chassis provides lasting protection for the pedal's all-analog circuitry. Battery access is fast and easy via a removable plate on the pedal's bottom. For powering by a power supply, the DM-2W features a standard BOSS PSA power jack.

I order this pedal from Raleigh Guitar Center, the shop have not this pedal so the guy in GC help me order one online, i pick up at Cary Guitar Center, after one weekend i got my Boss Delay WAZA,this pedal sound very good , so warm and clean, i using it play Pink Floyd's Run to Hell, very good.

High frequency oscillation

The day this pedal arrived, I put it on my small pedal board and practiced for about 2 hours with a band I'm in. My hope was to use it as a slight slap back echo with the occasional longer delay time there if need be. With the different groups that I am currently in, I have no need for a delay beyond 800ms. I felt that the range of delay time was great and easy to dial in. What drives me nuts about a lot of delay pedals on the market today is that you have 7 seconds of delay time on the sweep of one knob. This makes it nearly impossible to change from 300 ms to 360 ms to 410 ms. The custom mode ended up being my favorite over the standard mode. Even so, I found the noise floor almost unacceptable in the delay back wash. I can live with the analog wash under the notes but what drove me crazy was a high oscillation frequency within the repeats. This oscillation was overbearing on the standard mode. I believe it was a three or four octave up Ab on every delay repeat. For the last 4 years I have been using a Free The Tone Flight time delay and have owned a plethora of digital and analog delay pedals( wampler, Digitech, Ibanez, joyo, catalinbread, Empress, echosex2, baby echosex, custom echosex2, etc...)in my 30 years of playing but I have never experienced this type of high frequency oscillation from any other pedal. It might've not been so noticeable within a band setting but at home it was overbearing. I plugged it in through several different amps from a 1973 fender deluxe reverb, a 1967 super reverb, a 1967 bandmaster reverb, and a fishman acoustic loud box. Each time the noise was there especially on the standard mode. Now it has been some time since I played an original boss DM-2 but I do not remember this oscillation being an issue. Also, maybe this pedal could have been a defect? If not, I don't know how this design flaw got past Roland/Boss. Regardless I returned it and will try some thing else. Still a proud owner of many Boss pedals and a Boss fan boy!

    I am delighted how well this delay pedal flattens up a three piece band. I love the redesigned input/output buffers. My signal stays full and well detailed. I feel confident that this delay pedal will be used for a long, long time.

    This is a no brainer. Get off the cork sniffing vintage hunt. Vintage is a glorious 300ms of delay but doesn't give you a lot of play with a delay pedal. I've had AD9's, vintage Memory Man's and they sound great but not a lot of range. I'm a Delay Head and I'm still looking after this. It doesn't stop for me. I'll keep this in the collection. I love the added custom versatility. If you want vintage chips, look early 80's EHX stereo Memory Man and DOD fx-90. But these are just 300ms delays. Understand you're getting quality and very small versatility. Ibanez wise, look for the Echo Shifter. Excellent pedal with up to 2s delay. Even the Tone-lok series is impressive. You want a modern compromise of both worlds? Look no further than a Boss DM-2W. The custom setting takes most of the standard and adds more than double delay time for most scenarios and doesn't kill the vibe of the pedal itself. I dropped an Ibanez AD-9 plus some for it and I'm not looking back.
